Manfroy is the main antagonist of the Jugdral duology within the Fire Emblem franchise.

He is the main antagonist of the 1996 tactical video game Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War and one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Loptous) in its 1999 interquel Fire Emblem: Thracia 776.

He is the leader of Loptr Church, a cult that worshipped the Dark God named Loptous, who seeks revenge on Grannvale and rebuilding the Loptrian Empire. He is the arch-nemesis of both Sigurd and his son Selpih.

History[]

This section is too long. Visit here for more details: Manfroy's Synopsis on the Villains Wiki.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • He used manipulation and assassination to start a second Holy War across the land in order to revive the Dark God, Loptous.
  • Kidnapped Deirdre and brainwashing her to become Arvis's wife
  • He blackmailed Arvis into working with him by revealing his knowledge that Arvis carried the sinister Holy Blood of Loptous in his veins.
  • He assisted Chagall into murdering the latter's father Imuka, the benevolent king of Agustria, and usurped his throne.
  • He manipulated King Travant of Thracia into carrying out the Aed Massacre leading Ethlyn and Quan as Travant’s victims.
  • He used Duke Reptor of Fridge and Duke Lombard of Dozel to assassinate King Mananan of Isaach and Prince Kurth of Belhalla, starting the war between the nations and frame Sigurd.
  • Gave the once kindhearted Julius the tome of Loptous, causing him to become a cruel prince.
  • He created a cruel practices called the Child Hunts and used them as sacrifices for Loptous or fight in the arenas.
  • Killed his own son-in-law and drove his daughter insane, which caused his granddaughter Sara to hate him.
  • Abducts Julia and brainwashes her so that he would use her to kill Seliph and his companions.
  • Turns his granddaughter Sara into one of the twelve deadlords, Canis if the player fails to recruit her and turns Galzus into Bovis, Dadgar into Tigris, Eyvel into Draco, and Lifis into Porcus if they were killed in battle or failed to be recruited from side chapters or main chapters.

Trivia[]

  • The manga version by Oosawa had extended Manfroy's backstory and gave him a sympathetic side, with him seeing his parents killed in front of him due to their Loptuous Holy Blood had traumatized him into seeking revenge against Grannvale, as well as mourning his parents' demise, making the Oosawa manga version of Manfroy not being Pure Evil, unlike his original video game's version.
    • However, the manga itself obviously is a non-canonical adaptation to the game, which also added more depths and sympathetic qualities to the likes of Pamela, Reptor and Bloom, with Hilda, a major villain being completely omitted. Therefore, it can neither change the Pure Evil status nor add any redeeming quality to the game version's Manfroy at all.
