“ | I am so much more than a god! | „ |
~ Mallus' most famous quote after finally escaping from his dimensional imprisonment. |
“ | I am Mallus. Soon, I will be free and your world will know endurable pain! | „ |
~ Mallus introducing himself to Sara Lance. |
“ | Ancestor: The first totem bearers imprisoned a great evil and if he breaks free… Zari: You mean Mallus? (Mallus' realm shakes) Ancestor: Hush. Hush. Do not say his name here. He cannot enter your world, but this is the world between worlds. Time does not exist here and time is his cage. And the further time is broken, the closer the demon comes to breaking free. Amaya: This is why Darhk and his allies are creating anachronisms. Ancestor: Yes, and if you do not stop them, all of time is at risk. |

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He tried to wipe out the totem bearers of Zambezi in his rampage through time.
- Corrupted the death totem when the sixth tribe of Zambezi sided with him before the other tribes imprisoned him and stopped him to save the universe and time itself.
- While being imprisoned in a dark dimension with time as his cage, he forms a cult of followers known as the Order of the Shrouded Compass.
- After the Legends broke time to defeat the Legion of Doom, he used the opportunity to have the cult recruit allies from across time to create anachronisms throughout history to devastate and shatter time even more to break free.
- He indoctrinated an adolescent Nora Darhk into becoming his most fanatical servant and allow for him to use her as a vessel and ultimately would kill her when his cage was broken free, and he transformed into his true form.
- He had Kuasa resurrected with the water totem embedded in her and sent her to hunt down and kill rebel hacktivist Zari Tomaz in 2042 to obtain the air totem from her.
- He sent a now adult Nora to 1895 to revive Damien Darhk to aid in his plans.
- When Rip Hunter confronted him and demanded to speak with him in his true form, he took control of Nora and taunted Rip that he would not look upon his true form and live, with the Legends and the Time Bureau being too late to stop him and Damien Darhk successfully getting resurrected, resulting in dozens of deaths.
- After Sara was accidentally transported to his prison by touching Darhk's time stone, he sadistically revealed his presence and promised Sara that once released from the dark dimension, he would subject her world to unbearable pain and attempted to possess her.
- In the 1960s, he would mind-rape Sara by repeatedly subjecting her to her worst memories and attempting to drive her insane with hallucinations to make her hateful and fearful enough so he could possess her.
- He preyed upon Sara's insecurities to manipulate her into wielding the death totem so he could successfully possess her.
- After possessing Sara, he goes on a rampage on the Waverider while subject the rest of the Legends to psychological abuse by making them relive their worst traumas.
- He brutally beat Ray into a coma, shattering several of his bones and collapsing his lung.
- Locked down the Waverider to strand the Legends in the temporal zone and prevent them from escaping.
- Violently shattered Amaya's leg.
- Beat down Rory and nearly shoved a knife straight through his heart had Wally not intervened.
- He projects an image of Wally's ex-girlfriend Jesse to taunt him over breaking his heart and call him worthless junkie scum.
- He project the dead child brother of Zari to taunt her before snapping Zari's arm and knocking her out.
- He projecting the dead grandfather of Nate to have him blame Nate for his sacrifice to save the Legends and brutally beat him up while mocking Nate as not worthy of Amaya's love.
- When John Constatine arrives with Ava and Gary and starts excorizing him, he summons an illusion of Astra, the girl John accidentally sent to Hell, to torment him over his failure and nearly strangle him to death before sensing Mick activated the fire totem and traveling to his location to go kill him.
- Although Sara eventually rejected his attempts to corrupt her and freed herself from his possession with the help of the Legends, he still traumatized Sara enough into thinking Ava didn't deserve her due to her monstrous past and caused her to temporarily break up with Ava.
- He did all of this while trapping Sara's soul in his dimension and making her feel the pain of what he was doing to her teammates and torment her that she would always be a monster, sending in Nora to attempt to corrupt Sara and get her to willingly serve him.
- After possessing Sara, he goes on a rampage on the Waverider while subject the rest of the Legends to psychological abuse by making them relive their worst traumas.
- Through Nora, he brutally killed Kuasa by telekinetically ripping the water totem out her chest when she redeemed herself.
- After Nora was captured by a redeemed Damien Darhk and the Legends, he fully takes control of Nora and sadistically mocks Damien, telling him that his daughter was long gone and that there wasn't any fight from her.
- When he finally breaks free of his prison, he painfully consumes Nora when the last anachronism occurred, assuming his true form and threatening to destroy the world if the Legends don't hand over the totems.
- He easily brushes off their attacks and nearly destroys them all, forcing the Big Good of the series and the founder of the Legends, Rip Hunter, to sacrifice himself to temporarily destroy Mallus and buy the Legends time to escape.
- He corrupted Blackbeard, Julius Caesar, and Freydis into becoming his followers and sent them to Salvation where the Legends were hiding out to destroy it if the Legends didn't give him the totems.
- When Damien Darhk travels back in time to the point of Mallus' return to seemingly fatally wound Nora, he smugly taunts Darhk by transferring his spirit to him instead and mockingly asks if he thought destroying his vessel would stop him as he would gladly take Damien instead (though this was Damien's plan all along to save Nora by getting Mallus' spirit to depart from her), painfully consuming Damien instead and once again assuming his true form.
- He tries to kill the Legends for the final time and obtain the six totems so nothing could stop him destroying the universe, before smugly declaring that not even the six totems could stop him now before his demise.
- Overall, he is the darkest and most dangerous villain in Legends and one of the evilest villains in the entire Arrowverse, having no redeeming qualities or (almost completely no) humorous moments, being a sadistic entity that has no care for anyone even his most loyal followers and having the ultimate goal to destroy the universe for seemingly no other reason, not even attempting to remake it like other similarly omnicidal villains, but who were at least Harbingers of Rebirth, and he is responsible for the deaths of Rip Hunter and Damien Darhk.
- While he did have a comedic defeat, as the Legends transform into a gigantic Beebo toy to squash him in a huge heart explosion, it doesn’t detract from his villainy as it is only the situation that made it hilarious, while he was still taken very seriously.
Trivia[]
- He was originally Near Pure Evil as his defeat was initially believed to be too comedic; however, after it was decided that his death doesn't detract from his villainy, he was reproposed and approved as Pure Evil.
