~ The Chairman to Locus and Felix |
Malcolm Hargrove, more commonly known as The Chairman, is the overarching antagonist of the web series Red Vs. Blue.
He was the head of the UNSC Oversight Sub-Committee as well as the CEO of Charon Industries, who exchanged messages with the Director of Project Freelancer for years before placing him under arrest for his numerous crimes. Under the alias of Control, Hargrove would later employ a group of mercenaries to help him eradicate the people of the planet Chorus, who were in the middle of a civil war, before being finally stopped by the Reds and Blues.
He was voiced by Jack Lee.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Sends Agent Washington and the Meta, on a mission to locate and capture Epsilon, in exchange for his freedom. This led to the Meta being killed by the Red & Blues.
- Made the Red & Blues wanted criminals, by the UNSC, for hiding Agent Washington and for them attempting to rescue Epsilon.
- Uses a group of Space Pirates to eradicate the people on Chorus, which was undergoing a civil war, which he plans to escalate in order to destroy the planet.
- Had Felix and Locus lie about their deaths to their respective armies in order to push them towards a final confrontation.
- Tells Felix and Locus that if they succeed in killing the Blood Gulch Crew, he'll award them with Maine's armour. But if they fail, he will give the armour to someone else who is capable and have their top priority be in eliminating the both of them instead.
- When he is exposed by Epsilon for all his crimes, he goes to Chorus and in a last desperate attempt to finish what he started he deploys several Mantis droids to the planet's surface and orders them to kill the inhabitants as well as the Space Pirates for their failure.
- Taunts Tucker and Epsilon stating that even if the colonists are saved, they themselves will not make it out alive.
- He is the reason as to why Epsilon sacrificed himself, since Epsilon used his powers to power down the Mantis droids and to give his crew a fighting chance.
- In the Restoration continuity, Epsilon's sacrifice is also what allowed his memory fragment of Sigma to take control of the other memory fragments, including Delta and Theta, and use them to turn Tucker into the new Meta, resulting in numerous casualties, including Sarge, as well as the psychological torture of Tucker any time he tried to break free, making Hargrove responsible even after his capture.
- It’s also stated that Doc was killed in the battle while he was saving Washington from a severe injury. This makes Hargrove worse since he was effectively responsible for the death of one of the core members of the Simulation Troopers. Washington was so devastated by Doc’s death that he had hallucinations of Doc to cope with medic’s loss.
