I am Eternal!
~ Magus as he possesses Adam Warlock.

Magus is the main antagonist of the 2021 science fiction adventure game Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. He is the arch-nemesis and the evil form of Adam Warlock who escaped the soul stone and now acts as the divine deity of the Universal Church of Truth. He is also the second arch-nemesis of Peter Quill and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

His Evil Ranking[]

  • After being released from the Soul Stone, he immediately possesses an Acanti.
  • He brainwashed thousands of people into joining the Universal Church of Truth. While not that heinous on its own, it is made worse by the fact that the brainwashed people are given visions of their dead loved ones, and by the fact that Magus would use some of these people as sacrifices to gain more Faith Energy.
  • Unlike Raker, who truly believes he will bring the dead back to life, Magus has no good intentions and simply seeks to cause harm and suffering.
  • He murdered dozens of Nova Corps officers, some of them onscreen.
  • He kills Ko-Rel just to manipulate Nikki Gold into becoming the church's next Matriarch.
  • While not appearing physically for most of the game, he is responsible for all of the church's actions, including their imprisonment of Adam Warlock and their mass invasions of planets. During the attack on Sacrosanct, it is said by Mantis that the church kills anyone who rejects the promise during these invasions.
  • Even after the Guardians defeat Raker, Magus refuses to accept defeat. He takes over Adam Warlock's body and tries to kill the Guardians first hand.
  • His ultimate goal is to destroy the universe and remake it, believing that all other lifeforms are inferior to him.
  • He does not have moral agency issues, since he is fully aware of the horror he is causing the universe but simply does not care. In fact, he relishes in it.
  • Overall, he is simply an extremely egotistical deity who profits off of people's suffering and who wants to remake the universe because he sees everyone else as beneath him.

Trivia[]

  • He and Thanos are the only Guardians of the Galaxy pure evils to originate from a video game.
