Welcome... to CARNEVIL!
~ Ludwig von Tökkentäkker in the intro for CarnEvil.
Welcome aboard. From zis study I have observed your every move. But you do not obey! Prepare to die!
~ Ludwig von Tökkentäkker before the final fight.

Professor Ludwig von Tökkentäkker, also known simply as Ludwig von Tökkentäkker, is the main antagonist and final boss of the arcade rail shooter, Carnevil. He is the undead ringmaster of the dreaded carnival who has been preforming shady experiments back when he was alive. Resurrected from his graveyard in Iowa after a token was inserted into his tomb, he seeks to take over the entire world in his own twisted carnival.

He was voiced by Jack E. Haeger.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • He manipulated Lester and Chester Turvey into joining his circus and preformed experiments on them to create the FlapJack.
  • Used genetic engineering to create a literal spider monkey known as Nik-Nak.
  • He sends his clown doctors after the protagonist so they can extract the protagonist's brain and put it into a gorilla.
  • When his minions fail to kill the protagonist, he directly confronts the protagonist in a battle to death.
  • There are many corpses found throughout the CarnEvil, which could possibly be its past victims.
  • He seeks to take over the world and turn it into his own twisted version of a carnival.
  • Although some of the enemies and bosses could have been evil before they joined the CarnEvil, Tökkentäkker is the most heinous antagonist due to his desire to take over the world.
    • Even moreso, despite being killed by the protagonist along with CarnEvil seemingly destroyed, the protagonist carelessly reinserts the coin into Umlaut's mouth again, likely resulting in resurrecting CarnEvil. And its strongly likely that the protagonist had also brought Ludwig von Tökkentäkker back to life.
