Lucifero, also known as the King of Devils, is one of the overarching antagonists of the Black Clover franchise.
He serves as the overarching antagonist in the second saga, both currently in Heart Kingdom Joint Struggle Arc and Spade Kingdom Raid Arc.
He is the highest-ranking devil and the demon that resides within Dante Zogratis, one of the three members of the Dark Triad and briefly Morris Libardirt. He is one of the highest-ranked devils among his kind, who serves as one of the three rulers of the underworld, operating within in the lowest level of the Tree of Qliphoth, the magic channel that connects the underworld to the real world. He is the arch-nemesis of both Asta and Liebe for causing their tragic experiences.
In English, he is voiced by Jeremy Schwartz.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- His overall goal was to wipe out the human world as a whole, which is about 90% of the continent, and lay waste across all the four kingdoms with his own bare hands.
- He once tried to possess Liebe in order to enter the human world.
- Killing Richita right in front of Liebe after he tried to possess the latter, furthering Liebe's hatred for his own kind bad enough on a personal level as a result and leaving him all alone inside his Grimoire for so many years. What's worse is that Asta never got to know his mother.
- Even in the present, he has likely forgotten about killing her in the past and didn't bother to remember since he though it held no meaning to him, demonstrating his remorseless nature to Liebe.
- Made contact and a deal with the Dark Triad, granting them their abilities upon possessing one of them, which Dante was his host, in exchange for freeing him and the rest of the Devils in the Underworld. This would make Lucifero indirectly responsible for Dante's actions when using his abilities, as well as the one behind the Triad formulating the Tree of Qliphoth's ritual sacrifice around the entire Spade Kingdom.
- Possess and reside within Morris Libardirt in order to commence opening the gates of the Tree of Qliphoth, even using his body to form a gigantic vessel later on, which cost Morris almost some of his limbs and his eyes.
- Merged and assimilate hundreds of the first and second-level demons via possession, forming them into one gigantic vessel for him to start manifesting his physical form, as well as attacking the remaining Magic Knights on the Battlefield. When Asta destroyed the vessel later on, it would also indirectly cause all the demons merged into said vessel to die thanks to him.
- Torturously and brutally fought Asta, Liebe, and the rest of the Magic Knight Captains using his Gravity Magic, forcing them to submit to him and his superiority.
- When realizing the potential that a human can defeat or kill him, he then changed his motives to not only wipe out humanity but also threaten to kill off the loved ones of every Magic Knight, mostly Yami Sukehiro and Nacht Faust, from their families, friends, and siblings alike.
- He would mock the death of Richita upon remembering her, calling her the same "worthless woman" in front of Asta and Liebe.
- He has zero care for other devils and his partnership with Dante comes off as seeing him as expendable, which he has resided with Morris too just in case the latter was of no use to him anymore.
- Like Zagred, he too has Moral Agency since he is capable of comprehending his actions and awareness. Though unlike Liebe, who is capable of feeling love and is an anti-hero (proving not all Devils are inherited evil).
