I've done terrible things, horrible things. I killed your men, I tortured them...and I enjoyed every second, soldier boy!
~ Lucas to Chris Redfield

Lucas Baker is one of the secondary antagonists in the 2017 video game Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, and the main antagonist of its Not a Hero DLC.

He was the twisted son of the Bakers, Jack and Marguerite, abusive brother of Zoe Baker and an agent for the Connections.

He was played by Jesse Pimentel in the English version and Setsuji Sato in the Japanese version, who also voices Stefano Valentini in the Japanese Version of The Evil Within 2.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • As opposed to his parents, Mia, and Eveline, Lucas does everything he does on his own free will and knows what he's doing is wrong yet does it anyway. After he was contacted by the Connection (who created Eveline), Lucas was provided with a serum from them which freed him from Eveline's control yet allowed him to keep his regenerative abilities. In turn, Lucas kept in touch with the organization and spied on his family for them, uncaring to the suffering they went through while under Eveline's control. Lucas also built a secret hideout and basecamp in a nearby salt mine, from which he maintained contact with the organization.
  • He shows no love or care for his own family, even before Eveline took control of them as he did not care when Marguerite was killed by Ethan and when he kidnapped Zoe to force Ethan to jump through multiple hoops to get the D series Head and to rescue Mia.
    • Even his own family seem to be aware of Lucas's malevolence, with his father Jack calling him a 'bad seed', and Marguerite once taking him to the hospital to get a head scan.
  • His first kill came at a very young age when he locked a bully named Oliver in the attic and let him starve to death when he faked his birthday date and also hid the remote from Zoe so she couldn't save Oliver.
  • He's implied to have a pervy fixation on his sister Zoe, as his 'F*ck-You List' states that he once looked in on Zoe while she was doing yoga.
  • When Jack Baker rescues Eveline from a tanker in an extreme storm, Lucas is the only person who shows no care for Eveline (who at first seemed to be an innocent little girl), only concerned he'd have to give up his room for her.
  • He kills his victims by putting them in inescapable boobytrap rooms, similar to a Saw film. One of his unfortunate victims was Clancy Jarvis, the Sewer Gators' cameraman, who burned to death.
    • Prior to his his death in the 'Happy Birthday' game, Lucas forced Clancy to play a game of Blackjack, or "21", with another captive by the name of Hoffman where the loser would have their fingers cut off, be electrocuted, and eventually have their face cut apart by a makeshift-sawblade. During which, Lucas cheats; puppeteering Hoffman's body to keep the game going after Clancy won both rounds fairly and using the Desperation card after using a perfect draw to get a 21 (which raises his and Clancy's bets to 100, meaning the loser of the round will be automatically killed and preventing Clancy from drawing any new cards out) in order to try and secure his victory. However, Clancy manages to win by forcing Lucas to draw a new card by using the Love Your Enemy card. Hoffman then regains consciousness only to be brutally killed by the makeshift-sawblade of knives. While Clancy ultimately won, Lucas decided that he wished to continue torturing him, leading him to force Clancy to play another one of Lucas's games which would cause his death.
    • In the 'Happy Birthday' tape, Clancy's torment continues where he has to place a lit candle on a "cake." As Clancy proceeds though the room, he is stabbed in his hand and chest from an exploding balloon filled with nails; and endures an animatronic engrave "LOSER" into his forearm with a quill pen. Clancy ultimately burns to death when the cake explodes, and the room catches on fire as a result of the winding key being removed from an oil barrel. Lucas later displays Clancy's charred corpse as a warning to Ethan to show what awaits him in his next trap, with the door's password and a threatening message reading "You're next".
  • He captures Mia and Zoe and placed them in his deathtrap-infested barn, foiling Ethan's plans of saving his wife and creating the counter-serum for Eveline's influence. Afterwards he calls Ethan and forces him to enter the barn to get one of the serum's ingredients. During this Lucas is able to toy with Ethan in various ways:
    • Purposely placing explosives and the Molded, including a powerful bloated variant, around the barn just to make Ethan's situation harder.
    • He created a challenge for Ethan to fight a fat molded. After Ethan successfully defeated the Fat Molded, Lucas doesn't care about the Molded (who he called as fat man) when revealed he was never his favorite.
    • When Ethan arrives at a locked door for which a code is needed, Lucas approaches from the other side of the door giving Ethan three possible codes to open the door. However, all codes are false and activate another death trap instead, a sharp pendulum which swings across the room and kills Ethan if he remains on the spot.
    • When Ethan finds the correct code for the door, he enters the same "Happy Birthday" test Clancy died in. However, from watching the tape of Clancy dying in the test, he is able to solve the puzzle without dying, leading to a furious Lucas to drop dynamite in the room screaming that he should be dead.
  • At an undisclosed point in time, Lucas betrayed the Connections scientists working with him, feeding them all to the Molded before covering the incident up as an accident, which can be seen in the Not a Hero DLC as there is a heavily bloodstained room in the Connections hideout.
  • He captured three Umbrella soldiers working under Chris in order to use them as bait. When Chris attempted to save the first of these captured operatives, Lucas, under the guise of another operative, attached a plastic explosive to Chris' arm before detonating a similar bomb on his hostage's neck. He later decapitated the second captive soldier with a buzz saw and blew the final operative's head off with another remote bomb, brutally killing all of Chris's fellow soldiers right in front of him.
  • He activates the bomb he had placed on Chris's arm whilst mocking him, although Chris was able to remove it in time by freezing it with liquid nitrogen.
  • Disturbingly, Lucas actually loves his own suffering just as much as he enjoys other people's suffering as he rips off his fingernails in front of Ethan on camera just to demonstrate how badly he doesn't want to "turn back the clock" and when turning into a molded (which is shown to be a painful experience when Eveline screams "it hurts, it hurts, it hurts") Lucas just enjoys his experience of turning into a molded and says "ah so this is what it feels like".
  • Despite the series high standards, Lucas stands out with his minimal amount of resources and unique torture methods.
  • Despite having many funny moments, Lucas is taken completely seriously in universe and his comedic moments do not detract from his heinousness.
