Lord Zedd is one of the main antagonists (alongside Brainiac) in the 2017 DC/Boom Studios! crossover comic, Justice League/Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.
He is the respective archenemy of the Power Rangers and an intergalactic overlord who seeks to conquer the universe and other worlds. He had teamed up with Brainiac when he was teleported to his ship and was the one who gave him the idea of collecting Angel Grove while intending to destroy the earth out of spite of Zordon.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He damaged Alpha 5 and turned him into a bomb to infiltrate the Commander Center, likely to destroy Zordon. This resulted in Zack teleporting himself and Zedd into the Justice League's dimension, kickstarting the events.
- Despite working with Brainiac, they both cooperated due to sharing the same mutualism about conquering and destroying planets while not genuinely caring for one another.
- He was the one who gave Brainiac the idea of collecting Angel Grove out of spite on the Power Rangers to his advantage.
- He used one of Brainiac's bottled monsters to attack several cities in different countries just so he could have the latter steal the Rangers' Power Coins and hack into their Zords. The ongoing attacks would've potentially caused many casualties and, presumably, the deaths of many innocent civilians.
- He then had Brainiac shrink Angel Grove and have it bottled up, imprisoning the friends and families of the Rangers alongside the Command Center with Zordon it in, and soon wore it as a necklace.
- He created more monsters to cause his Earth's destruction and further onward till it is in ruins, while later receiving help from Brainiac.
- Gave away Alpha 5 to Brainiac for him to "study" before destroying him later on.
- He prepares to destroy the Earth while forcing Zordon to watch as he uses the very Zords he created to be used in the process, as well as out of spite. However, when Brainiac was taken down, Zedd decided to do it himself by growing into giant size to kill both the Justice League and the Power Rangers for good.
- Despite his defeat being somewhat humorous when Kimberly aimed a Glove Box Arrow at him, it is too brief and doesn't come close to entirely detracting him from his crimes, as he was still taken seriously as a threat in-universe. Even Kimberly admitted that it was satisfying, proving Zedd deserved it.
- Unlike his mainstream counterpart, this version of Zedd doesn't have any redeeming qualities (such as being married and loving Rita) and lacks the comedic moments of his counterpart. Instead, he is taken 100% seriously as a vile, sadistic sorcerer who wishes to conquer the universe and destroy anything out of spite, despite having one comedic moment that doesn't necessarily devoid him of his tone.
Trivia[]
- Zedd, alongside Brainiac, Rita Repulsa, and General Krang, are the only four Pure Evils of the BOOM! Studios Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers to come from crossovers.
- This is the only version of Lord Zedd to be Pure Evil so far.
