I respect order, Mr. Machin, discipline, precision. You? You're sloppy. All you represent is anarchy. You made a mess. I suggest you clean it up. Either way, our relationship is concluded.
~ Damien Darhk cutting Machin loose.
First, you catch me. Then, you break me out. Now, you want to catch me again. Make up your mind!
~ Anarky to Team Arrow after he tries to torture Darhk's family.

Lonnie Machin, also known as Anarky, is a major antagonist in Season 4 and a minor antagonist in Season 5 of the TV series Arrow. He is also the Arrowverse version of the DC Comics villain, Anarky.

He is a mob enforcer who went on a murderous rampage to get revenge on Damien Darhk and H.I.V.E after after being cut loose by the latter while also trying to spread as much anarchy as possible. He is also a somewhat archenemy of Thea Queen/Speedy since she is indirectly the one who caused his derangement by burning his face.

He was portrayed by Alexander Calvert.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Prior to his first appearance, Machin was a mob enforcer who worked for various criminal organizations, but was fired from all of them because he was considered too unstable and extreme.
  • Under H.I.V.E.'s employment to convince Jessica Danforth to end her mayoral campaign, he set up a remote rifle during her announcement speech to scare the crowd while posing as one of her security detail so he could kidnap her, even electrocuting a guard who realized he wasn't a part of it.
  • After persuading Damien Darhk to give him a second chance, he kidnapped Danforth's daughter Madison and killed the police officers protecting her.
  • Tortured one of HIVE's ghosts for information on HIVE by pulling out at least one of his teeth. While this happened offscreen, we do see Machin playing with a tooth before meeting with Darhk.
  • When Darhk cut ties with Machin for crossing the line, he decided to take out his frustrations out on Madison by torturing her, in which he started by breaking her little finger after falsely claiming she was going free.
  • After being burnt by Thea and sent to the hospital, he butchered two paramedics who were taking care of him and fled from the ambulance before leaving an anarchist symbol behind, painted with their blood.
  • With his sanity now further deranged, he tracked down and killed his foster parents while scratching out the faces off the pictures in their house.
  • He attacked a H.I.V.E. base and killed numerous Ghosts, hoping to kill Darhk who wasn't there. He left behind an anarchy symbol by using his foster parents' blood to lure in Darhk's forces to his hideout.
  • After tracking down Darhk's wife and daughter, Ruvé and Nora, in their home and forcing him to come see him, Machin decided to kill time by torturing them with a flamethrower. He was stopped by Team Arrow before he was about to.
  • After infiltrating H.I.V.E.'s Tevet Noah facility, he killed various guards to learn more about the facility. He then took two hostage and had take control of a house that control the facility's life support system, threatening to shut it off.
  • During his confrontation with Thea in the house, although she was trying to talk him out of it, it was quickly revealed that he set the house to blow and kill everyone in the facility regardless.
  • Enraged about how his plan to get revenge on Darhk failed again, he fought Thea and then killed her boyfriend Alex in front of her, claiming that he was liberating her.
  • Machin kidnapped Ruvé and Nora at Tevat Noah and then threatened to bring down the facility and kill everyone in it unless Darhk arrives. After growing impatient, he intended on killing one of them.
    • When Ruvé attempted to reason with Machin, Machin condescendingly replies with "Did I leave the impression that I was a rational guy?" Proving that despite his insanity he has a clear moral agency and does in fact understand that he's evil.
  • When Tevat Noah start coming down, he stabbed Ruvé and then escaped after fighting Green Arrow, Thea and Spartan.
  • Months following Darhk's death, he attempted to detonate a bomb that would destroy at least half of Star City and kill thousands of innocent people. He was stopped by the Green Arrow and Wild Dog.
  • He has a twisted obsession with Thea, constantly calling her "mommy" by claiming that she helped him awaken his true self. During their encounters, he would constantly try and goad her into giving into her dark emotions such as killing him or torturing him.

Trivia[]

  • This version of Anarky, along with his Beware the Batman incarnation, is one of the two versions of Anarky to be Pure Evil.
  • This version of Anarky is far worse than his comic book counterpart.
  • His actor, Alexander Calvert, also portrayed Jack Kline from Supernatural, who is ironically Pure Good.
