Leviticus Cornwall is the overarching antagonist of the 2018 action-adventure video game Red Dead Redemption II.
He is a wealthy industrialist in New Hanover and its adjacent states, as well as a financial supporter of the Pinkerton Detective Agency. He is also one the arch-enemies of Dutch van der Linde and his gang.
He was portrayed by John Rue.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He forced the people of Annesburg (possibly thousands of people) to work to death in their mines, completely destroying the town and being the reason why it is so polluted in the game.
- He contracted Colonel Henry Favours and the United States Army to expel the Wapiti Indians from their lands, which they say are rich in oil.
- This makes Cornwall responsible for the war between the army and the Indians, which ended in the death of many soldiers and Indians.
- He supported the military dictatorship of Alberto Fussar in Guarma and even built sugar plantations, forcing its inhabitants to work there, basically turning Guarma into a tropical paramo.
- He hired the Pinkerton Detective Agency to capture the Van Der Linde gang after the gang robbed one of their trains.
- This makes Cornwall indirectly responsible for most of the tragic events that happened in the video game (along with Micah Bell).
- He threatened to kill Leopold Strauss and John Marston if Dutch doesn't show up.
- When one of his men tells him that people feel, Leviticus gets angry with him and tells him that feelings do not matter in the business, demonstrating his lack of empathy and his lack of respect for his men.
- He yells at one of his workers telling them to make that army man pay his portage charge. And since he is working with Colonel Favors, this means it is probably him. Showing he has no respect, even for people who make him more powerful
- He is implied to have burned down a rival oil derrick in New Hanover, killing the owner Varley, as a letter from Cornwall Kerosene & Tar can be looted from Varley's charred corpse requesting that Varley give Cornwall the derrick.
- He is also implied to have ordered the burning of the town of Limpany, as several Cornwall Kerosene & Tar barrels can be found around the town.
- His relationship with agent Andrew Milton is completely professional, as Cornwall himself explicitly tells him that they are not friends and is even angry with him when Milton told Cornwall that they are doing everything possible within the limits of the law.
- Even in death, his actions were indirectly responsible for the dissolution of the gang, as it only caused the Pinkertons to become increasingly aggressive against the gang, as well as the expulsion of the Indians from their lands.
- Although he was robbed by the Van Der Linde gang, he was already a robber baron beforehand who had ruined the lives of numerous people, invalidating any "tragedy" he may have had.
- Despite the high Heinous Standards of the Red Dead Redemption series, Cornwall gets off easy for having played a huge role in the actions of villains like Favors and Fussar, while also putting many of his workers in torturous conditions. His actions also have enough impact on screen to not be off screen villainy.
