“ | Men like that can't accept what we know to be true. A man can't stay the same with the world evolving around him. But a man can't choose his brother, can he? Almost as if his brother chooses him. You see that's what we are, me and Butch, brothers, born in the desert, all those years ago. | „ |

Latham Cole is the main antagonist of the 2013 Walt Disney epic western action film The Lone Ranger, based on the radio show character of the same name.
He is a railroad tycoon who is friends with John, Rebecca and Dan Reid. However, as the film later reveals, Cole is actually the business partner of Butch Cavendish and the archenemy of Tonto, whose tribe he massacred along with Cavendish a long time ago just to obtain valuable silver from a mine.
He was portrayed by the late Tom Wilkinson.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He massacres the Commanche tribe with Butch Cavendish even after the help they provided them, unintentionally leaving only Tonto alive just so he could make way for a railroad that he intends to build with their silver.
- He proceeds to have Butch and his men raid and kill people in settlements while disguised as the Commanche to incriminate them tribe for violating the peace treaty, causing a war to start between them and Captain Jay Fuller's army, causing him to kill innocent people without knowing it. This is what would cause Jay to go on his side due to being unable to move on with the amounts of innocent blood he had on his hand, Latham further emphasizing this to him to get him on his side.
- He had Butch kill John's brother, Dan, along with several other rangers.
- When one of Butch's men releases Rebecca and Danny, Latham arrives and kills him by shooting him.
- Upon revealing his true colors to him, Latham makes an attempt to kill John inside the train only for the latter to turn the tables on him, though Latham would turn them back with the help of Captain Jay Fuller.
- He tried to get Danny to shoot John by lying that he was responsible for his father Dan's death.
- He begins abusing Rebecca and when Danny tries to protect her, Latham hits him across the face in spite of the cut he had, telling him that he'll have to teach him some respect before trying to abuse him further with Rebecca stopping him.
- He tells Jay and his men to kill John by shooting him in the meantime.
- When the rest of the Commanche arrive to rescue John with Tonto being the one doing the rescue while they attack, Latham has Captain Jay Fuller and his men massacre them to finish the genocidal campaign he started on them, leaving Tonto as the last of his kind.
- After revealing his plan to the officials, when they start objecting to it, he shoot one of them in the leg, threatening to shoot the others if they do not nominate him in his place.
- When the trains have been sabotaged, he ordered his men to shoot it in an attempt to kill John in spite of being told by Rebecca that Danny was on board, showing that he didn't care if an innocent child would have gotten hurt or killed in the aftermath.
- While trying to shoot Tonto on the train, when Rebecca tries to stop him, he smacks her out of the train room, not caring about the fact that he could've killed her that way.
- He shows no concern for Rebecca when Tonto accidentally throws a rock at her.
- He orders Butch to go kill John himself in spite of the chances that he could die in the aftermath and does not object when the latter holds Rebecca hostage.
- He makes one last futile attempt to kill Tonto on the train in order to complete his genocide on the Commanche once and for all whilst taunting him about how pretty soon no one would know that his people even existed only for John to shoot his pistol out of his hand, which would lead to Tonto splitting up the train they are in, leaving Latham to fall to his death in the water beneath the destroyed bridge with the silver dragging him down, avenging the deaths of the Commanche.
- He openly hates Butch, expressing in a hateful manner how a man can't choose his brother and that it's almost as if his brother chooses him to John while talking about how he and Butch were brothers in the desert, beating him up when brought to him while maintaining his facade in spite of it being unnecessary, and ordering him to go kill John in spite of his life being in potential danger.
