Lars Jorgensen is the main antagonist of the 2024 Netflix heist comedy film Lift.
He is a French-Italian banker turned terrorist mastermind with the intent of funding terror groups and organizations for monetary gain. His status as an investment analyst supported his occupation as an art collector with several connections with black-market art dealers.
He was portrayed by Jean Reno.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Jorgensen had a history of orchestrating terrorist attacks via bankrolling terror groups and plummeting stock markets altogether for his monetary gain, resulting in getting an unfortunate number of innocent people killed. In one scenario, he had a New Zealand airplane bombed that took all the lives of 183 people while plummeting the airline's stock market, making billions off of it.
- He hired Leviathan, a cyber-terrorist group, into hacking water supply facilities like utilities, dams, and water grids in hopes of causing a global flooding and make a fortune out of it. Abby indicated Jorgensen had the potential of flooding an entire city or drought an entire country should it happen further.
- He had his right-hand, Cormac, torture Arthur Tigue, a former associate, in the most brutal way possible by having the latter's dog maim him alive and mutilate his body parts to be placed in grocery bags.
- Ordered Leviathan to demonstrate their skills by causing a flood in Madrid via manipulating the main water grid. This resulted in 13 deaths throughout the flooding and it would've prolonged further, which it also endangered hundreds of people trying to survive the ordeal.
- Tasking Cormac and his men into transferring the gold delivery from Zurich to Tuscany, which led to Cyrus, Abby, and Camila taken hostage afterward. When hearing about them, he thought of using them for his own benefit rather than "help them" as claimed, considering his greedy nature.
- Shot the female Leviathan representative in the leg for trying to escape upon finding out either between Cyrus, Abby, and Camila are Interpol. When she refuses to comply with the deal any further, Jorgensen shoots her in the forehead.
- Attempts to kill either Cyrus, Abby, or Camila when one of them is Interpol. When Cyrus outs himself as "Agent Gladwell" to spare Abby and Camila, Jorgensen prepares to shoot him until the police arrived.
- He tries to frame Cyrus, Abby, and Camila as intruders and claiming he was only acting in "self-defense" until the former exposed him via the jet's LED screen.
- Having Leviathan paid in gold is considerable pragmatic to ensure they stay on board under superficial composure. Once it was revealed they are capable of hacking into his bank accounts, Jorgensen reassures their payment will be delivered not out of anything in return, but because he feared of losing his wealth.
- While he has a pet dog, it's unclear whether or not he cares for it. Though considering his nature, he more or less sees his dog as an accessory than anything to demonstrate he has legitimate affection for it.
- Based on Huxley's description on him, it's made clear Jorgensen has zero care for other people's lives but himself and will sacrifice anyone to make a profit out from his attacks, this also expands to his minions considering what he did to Tigue.
- Although Lift is a comedy heist film, Jorgensen is ultimately taken seriously and lacks any comedic elements throughout his screentime.
