Lawrence "Larry" Bitterman is the main antagonist of "Drive In", the third episode of the horror anthology series American Horror Stories.
He is an egotistical filmmaker who created Rabbit Rabbit, a 1990s horror movie containing subliminal signals that will drive the audience insane and make them start killing one another. After being arrested and having most prints destroyed, Bitterman returns in 2021 with another print, intending to repeat the process again in front of a new audience.
He was portrayed by John Carroll Lynch.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He created the horror movie Rabbit Rabbit, the subliminal images within the film causing a profound effect on the fear center in the brain, turning anyone who watches it into a rabid monster.
- This causes his editor lose his mind and cut off his fingers.
- He presents it to the public without caring about the loss of life of those who will watch it, which causes a massacre.
- He tries to justify his actions in court and even attacks Tipper Gore when she decides to destroy all copies of the movie.
- Makes a movie again while in prison and distributes it again, killing dozens of people.
- When he realizes what he caused, he does not regret it, but rather rejoices in the impact of his film on the viewers.

- In his last moments he yells after that this is only the end of the first act and that their "horror film" isn't over yet.

- He is somewhat simillar to Lionel Starkweather, the main antagonist from Manhunt, with both being delusional movie directors who is obsessed by creating a "perfect horror movie", even involving actual murders to make it realistic.
