Kurenai Kogetsu, also known as Madame Kurenai is a supporting antagonist of Edens Zero, appearing as the main antagonist of the Sun Jewel arc. She is a tyrannical former noble and a slaver who rules a casino-like planet, Sun Jewel and the biological mother of one of Shiki Granbell's companions, Homura Kougetsu.
After her defeat by Shiki Granbell, she was in captive as a sex slave by Cedric (the man who she defaced) where she died when she was tortured and gangraped to death by Cedric and his gang.
She is voiced by Mie Sonozaki in the Japanese version, and by Michelle Ruff in the dubbed version.

What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- Killed dozens of gangsters in a casino.
- Even after becoming poor and begging to be helped, Kurenai never regrets her evil actions.
- Leaving Homura alone in a town, as she felt her child was useless to her.
- Lying to Valkyrie about her situation and love for Homura, so she can usurp the throne.
- Subjected Shiki and Homura to slavery in the mines, which turns out the slavery is permanent.
- Burned Cedric's face. Until after her defeat by Shiki Granbell, Cedric (now wearing a mask to cover his disfigured face) came back for vengeance as well leading a gang of thugs of capturing Kurenai to make her as Cedric's sex slave of being tortured and gangraped for her heinous actions. This has result of her death.
- Killed Baron Mordo and took over as a tyrant no better than him.
- Although it is unknown whether some of the people, she had imprisoned were genuine criminals, the punishments she inflicted upon them is too excessive to be considered true justice.
- Her acts of "justice" towards the people she captured are to purely turn them into her own personal slaves to mine gold from planet Sun Jewel.
- The people enslaved under her are merely pawns whose freedom is just an illusion, so they could be purposed to continue mining gold forever.
- Her punishments are only used to fuel propaganda on the people of Sun Jewel, so they can praise her as a fake ultimate hero.
- Her acts of "justice" towards the people she captured are to purely turn them into her own personal slaves to mine gold from planet Sun Jewel.
- Attempted to kill the people of the mines, which led to Valkyrie's death.
- Attempted to kill all people of the mines again with a space laser, believing them to be a threat to her tyrannical rule.
- When she was finally defeated, Kurenai begged for Homura to help her. However, she attempted to fake her love to Homura to make herself appear sympathetic towards her daughter.
- When her daughter decided to let her go because she was not worth killing, Kurenai ran away without any regrets for her actions.
- While she was captured by her slaves to be abused (physically and sexually) to death for retribution and revenge, she is not given any type of sympathy for the pain she endured.
Trivia[]
- Kurenai Kogetsu is, alongside Illega, Spider, Müller and Cure, one of the only five Edens Zero Pure Evils.
- She is also one of the few Hiro Mashima villains to be Pure Evil, along with Acnologia, Jackal (Fairy Tail), Zash Caine, and the previously mentioned Edens Zero Pure Evils.
- Her universe 0 counterpart is much more heroically compared to her universe 1 counterpart, because the former is portrayed a heroically by the narrative and desires to protect the people living on the planet, Sun Jewel, as well as truly loves her own daughter, Homura.
- But unlike her universe 0 counterpart, Kurenai's universe 1 counterpart was more sinisterly evil and showed no love towards Homura.
