“ | I have been expecting you. Your life, your name. They will be wiped from history! Come, it is time... to die! | „ |
~ Kronika's most famous quote. |
Kronika is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside the One Being) of the Mortal Kombat franchise.
She is the overarching antagonist of of the Mortal Kombat: Titan Trilogy, serving as the main antagonist of Mortal Kombat 11, and the overarching antagonist of both Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath and Mortal Kombat 1.
She is voiced by Jennifer Hale.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
In General[]
- She is the one responsible for everything that happened in the entire franchise.
- She initially seems to only want a balance between good and evil, but it's her own twisted view of it with all the realms locked in eternal conflict while countless die.
- She has restarted the timeline many times when it no longer met her expectations, killing countless people in the process.
- She forced Liu Kang and Raiden to battle each other with Liu Kang dying by Raiden’s hand in each and every timeline, fearing their combined strength as they threaten her golden vision of balance.
- Her relationship with her children Shinnok and Cetrion is not genuine, as she was only angry when Shinnok was defeated because it was not her plan, and she had Cetrion sacrifice herself and kept manipulating her. And her relationship with Geras isn't any better either. She treated him more like a disposable pet, while Liu Kang treated him as a genuine friend when he became the Keeper of Time.
Mortal Kombat 11 (Including Aftermath)[]
- At the end, she plans to restart the timeline once again, which horrified almost everyone.
- She trapped Shang Tsung, Fujin, and Nightwolf within a void for refusing her offer.
- She recruits several villains like Shao Kahn, Kano, and Frost to her side by promising them their grand desires for her New Era she plans to create, ultimately making her responsible for their actions in the game.
- She manipulated Jax Briggs to her cause by promising him a future where his wife lives and his daughter Jacqui won't join the Special Forces, even hiding her relation to Shinnok to ensure he didn't refuse.
- During the final battle, if she beats Liu Kang in the first round, she successfully restarts history, which results with everyone being erased (with the exception of Liu Kang and Raiden).
- Her getting her soul and power syphoned/stolen by Shang Tsung was more than well deserved after all the pain and misery that she has caused throughout the game series.
Mortal Kombat 1[]
- Despite her demise, her actions would have a severe posthumous effect in the following game:
- Liu Kang had to give up his Titan status so that he wouldn't be driven mad with the power of the Hourglass, like Kronika.
- Her battle with Liu Kang and Shang Tsung ultimately caused the timelines to fracture into many different timelines with different possible outcomes, with majority of them being quite disastrous as best seen with Titan Shang Tsung.
- When the New Era counterparts of Kitana, Mileena, and Sindel were shown a flashback of Kronika's actions in the previous timeline, they were disgusted.
