“ | Don't cross the line, you say? Hah! Typical of you, dearest brother, to speak such words at a time like that. But it's too late!! It's too late, brother! What use is it now?! You should've told me before I joined hands with that monster! So please, be gone from my sight. The world you once knew is no more. There are no more fools that will hang onto the façade that is humankind. With our common for gone, we now need to prepare for the dangers within. And since I made it here with the aid of that monster, I'll have to pay the price. | „ |
~ Prince Edward's parting words to his brother's spirit and succession to the throne. |
Eddie Montoya is the villainous deuteragonist of the manhwa series I Grow Stronger By Eating (alongside the Paladin). He was a CIA agent who was tasked with arresting the criminal, Pet Shop. When this backfired and he was killed, Eddie reincarnated into the new world as Prince Edward Grand Contine the Fifth, the second eldest son of the Kingdom of Grand Contine in the Elmwood Continent. He is a direct descendent of the first king (300 years ago), Edward the Great and son of Edward the Fourth. At a certain point, he allies himself with Pet Shop, after being kidnapped by him. Together they set out to defeat the Demon King. After defeating the Demon King (as well as his real goal, killing the warrior, his brother), he becomes the Hero of the New World alongside Pet Shop. He also kills his father and usurps the throne, becoming King Edward.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
In General[]
- While he was abused by his father, this doesn't make him sympathetic because he was already evil beforehand and his brother and half-sister are not bad people like him.
- While he does seemingly love his brother, he is more than willing to manipulate and kill him. He reverts any redeeming quality he may have had too when he mocks his dead brother's spirit.
- While he did possibly love his mother and hated Edward IV for allowing his stepmother to kill her, this was more than likely another reason to hate his father rather than care for his mother since rarely mentions her in the story.
- His comedic moments don't detract from his Pure Evil status since they are just to show how insane he is.
- His relationship with Pet Shop is out of pure pragmatism and fear rather than friendship like he pretends.
- He was angered that his father had used orphaned children as servants for tasks such as assassinations. This was not because of disgust, but because he stole his idea.
- While Pet Shop does worse, he still qualifies because not only does he have much lower resources but he is partially responsible for many of his crimes whether it is enforced or indirectly due to turning him into the psychopath he is today.
Actions[]
- Even before being reincarnated, he was a scummy CIA agent who was part of the operation responsible for the death of Pet Shop's wife and elder son.
- Helps kill the Demon King even after learning it's actually an innocent woman who's possessing the body of the Demon King in order to look like a hero and outshine his father.
- Betrays and kills his brother (not before tricking him into breaking the three steps of his Warrior code) despite the fact that he already would've taken the throne after slaying the Demon King, making his sole reason for doing this to piss off his father. He also kills the Saintess for trying to save him.
- Has Pet Shop parasitize and brainwash all of his father's knights and forces them to kill him to usurp the throne of the Grand Contine Kingdom (although Edward IV deserved to die given his greedy tyrannical method of ruling his kingdom.)
- Sends Pet Shop to destroy the Demon village of Stuccfit. One of the residents, Miden, an innocent child ends up getting caught in this slaughter and nearly dying while becoming traumatized due to thinking he watched his little sister died.
- Sadistically imprisons three trolls in his dungeon for wanting to see his laboratory.
- Used his fathers zombified soldiers as slaves, showing no remorse.
- Sends Pet Shop to murder Ellemia el Piris (though she may have deserved to die for being a spy), then mocks her brother/husband, Lezus el Piris, the king of the Elf Kingdon, causing him to declare war on the Human Kingdom.
- Corrupts the last remaining elf silbing, Lezus el Piris, into a tyrant like him.
