Killvearn, originally called Kill, is a major antagonist of Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. He is the Dark Army's best executioner and one of Vearn's three best servants. But in truth, he is actually sent by his master Velzar to execute Vearn in his stead.

In the 1991 anime, Kill was voiced by Hideyuki Tanaka while "Piroro" was voiced by Hiroko Emori. In the 2020 anime, he was voiced by Hiroyuki Yoshino in the Japanese version and by Ian Hanlin in the English version.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Just as Vearn and Avan stated, Killvearn is clearly the most sadistic and cruelest of the Underworld.
  • After joining the Dark Army, he was sent by his master Velzar to assassinate Vearn to determine their bet over who decide the fate of the Surface World.
  • Under Vearn's orders, he moved Sovereign Rock Castle away in order to escape from both defected Hyunckel and Crocodine's suspicions over the Dark Army's movements.
  • Used Baran's dragons and sent them to attack the Bengarne Kingdom in order to make Dai revealed himself as a Dragon Knight, causing the rest of the people to fear and afraid him as result. He later revealed himself to Dai and mocked him for this and claiming that humanity were selfish.
  • Took sadistic enjoyment of watching Vearn scolding Hadlar for his failures and wasn't very pleased that he wasn't killed yet.
  • While he did stopped Mystvearn from revealing his true appearance, this is merely out of pragmatism rather than genuine concern because he wasn't given Vearn's permission yet to do so.
  • Mocked Popp and his friends in order to lure him away to the Field of Death so he could paralyzed him with Reaper Flute and kill him but only for him to be stopped by Dai. This also makes him indirectly responsible for Dai getting trapped inside the iceberg as he was also lured away to save Popp before he got injured from the fight with Hadlar who transformed into a Superior Being, which made Popp became guilty over this.
  • When Popp attempt to escape from Killvearn and Mystvearn, he attempt to kill him once again until Crocodine intervenes it and brought him back to Papnica.
  • Under Vearn's orders, he attempt to assassinate Baran before he got cut in half.
  • Though he heals Hadlar's wounds on his chest, this isn't out of care and concern as he only back down so he wouldn't get involved in the Black Core's explosion.
  • Mocks the Disciples of Avan for failing to escape from Vearn and his palace.
  • He and Mystvearn threatened the Elite Royal Guards not to interrupt the fight between Hadlar and Vearn.
  • Activates his Kill Trap on Dai, Popp and Hadlar to engulf them in flames that almost incinerate them to death after Dai finally defeats Hadlar. After Dai escapes from his trap, he sadistically enjoys of watching Popp seemingly died from getting incinerated and almost celebrate it.
    • This would even led to Hadlar's eventual death as he risked himself to help Dai and Popp escape from getting incinerated until Avan arrives to save them.
  • Enraged that Avan (who managed to survived at the beginning of the story) had deactivated his trap which ruined his chance of killing Popp and Hadlar, he tried to kill them in rage but only for Hadlar to almost stabbed him with his claws.
  • Attempt to kill Avan with his Reaper Flute to get revenge on him for deactivating his trap.
  • Dragged Avan to an empty field with red cloud and space background so he could duel him to death as another of his revenge while using his robotic "Judge" as a referee for the duel to have him executed in case he lost.
  • As Avan is able to read through his dishonest strategies and behavior, he attempt to kill him by unleashing the Phantom Razor and prevent him to unleash a Megante at him by having the Judge hold him off to leave him to get exploded with it.
  • When Avan attempt to stop him, he coldly attempt to cut off his hand before he escape the field. But fortunately for Avan, he managed to escape by filled his glove with Lunar Zoombloom before using a Zip spell to teleport himself back to the real world.
  • Enraged that Avan has escape his field, Killvearn tried to kill him twice, first by attempt to unleash Incinerating Inferno against him and later by summoning Phantom Razors on him out of spite even after he puts off the flames by using a Silver Feather on him, but only for him to beheaded by his own blade that Avan set up as a trap.
  • Now secretly survived, Killvearn arrived in front of the heroes where "Piroro" revealed himself to be the mastermind behind the Killvearn puppet's actions. He later announced his intentions of destroying the entire Surface World by activating the Black Core on its puppet's heads which will detonate the six Black Cores placed by Vearn and later blowing it up, killing everyone here as result. Additionally unlike Vearn's, Kill's Black Core cannot be affected by Ice-type spells because there's magma inside the puppet as it demonstrated Leona failed to freeze his Black Core with Crackle. After he was killed, he spitefully tells the heroes they're already too late before he dies and disappears into smokes.
    • Because of this, he indirectly became responsible for Dai sacrificing himself alone after sending Popp away back to the Surface World because it's his duty to protect those he loved just like his parents, which resulted in him disappeared when the Black Core explodes above the sky. However, it was later revealed that Dai is alive after survived from the explosion as his sword's jewel is flashing, with everyone in the Surface World are waiting for him to return.
  • While he only join the Dark Army as a double agent for Velzar, his loyalty towards Velzar wasn't entirely genuine and he only did this out of self-serving goals. His intentions of blowing up the entire Surface World proves that he was against Velzar's orders since he wanted to conquer it.
  • Despite having several comedic moments throughout the series especially whenever it comes with Kill's "servant" Piroro, Killvearn himself and his actions were played very deadly and seriously and none of them detracts from his heinousness, which proves how cruel and sadistic he could be. However, in the series finale, "Piroro"'s act as Kill's "servant" is nothing more than a facade so nobody could discover his true intentions as the mastermind behind his "master"'s actions
