~ Kevdak to Grog. |
Kevdak is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Anna Ripley) of the second season of The Legend of Vox Machina.
He is the uncle and archenemy of Vox Machina member Grog Strongjaw, as well as the father of Zanror and the leader of the Herd of Storms marauders. He was an abusive sadist that had the Herd slaughter countless villages on his watch and allies with the Chroma Conclave dragons in the present to assist them in violently conquering the world.
He was voiced by Ralph Ineson.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
In General[]
- He doesn’t show any love or affection towards his own family and even tries to kill two of his relatives, Grog (his nephew) and Zanror (his son), for standing up to him.
- He doesn’t show any care the Herd either, as he only sees them as expandable and doesn’t care if any of them are hurt or killed, even threatening to kill them if they don't do what he orders them to.
- While he does grimace at seeing Umbrasyl brutally kill one of his men to make a point, It's really him cringing at the possibility of it happening to himself, since he's made it clear he doesn't care about his herd.
- While the series is an action comedy, his actions are portrayed completely seriously.
Past[]
- He led the Herd of Storms in slaughtering countless villages in the past with no mercy as tragically seen in flashbacks to the point that he even had a trademark code word to start the massarce, "Bleed 'em".
- As recounted by Grog, he often had the Herd kill for no reason at all.
- Kevdak snaps a gnomes neck after luring her to a field that he and the herd were hiding in before committing a massacre on a village.
- He turned Grog into a merciless barbarian that engaged in the slaughters.
- When Grog realized the error of Kevdak's ways and spared a defenseless old gnome named Wilhand Trickfoot during one village massarce and helped him escape, Kevdak brutally beats him to near death with the Titanstone Knuckles, a vestige of divergence, before leaving him to die and get picked apart by scavengers.
- The beating was so bad that it horrified Zanror and all the other members of the Herd, who couldn't even watch.
- He also mocked his son as a weak disgrace for not being able to stop Grog.
- It is heavily implied that Grog got brain damage as a result of the beating. To add salt to the wound, Grog was only a teenager at the time this happened.
Season 2[]
- He allied with the genocidal dragons known as the Chroma Conclave to save his own skin during their violent conquest of Tal'Dorei.
- He turned one of the major bustling cities on the continent, Westruun, to ruin and massarced the populace, forcing the survivors to pay tribute and slaughtering those who come up short.
- After Zanror called him out for turning the Herd into mere servants of dragons for his own self-preservation, he beat his own son to a pulp in front of the Herd to intimidate them. It is also implied that he tortured him to figure out others shared his disdain for his alliance with the dragons.
- He ordered the Herd to massacre the remaining citizens of Westruun, even if they were paying tribute, and milk every ounce of wealth from the city.
- After Grog returned to challenge him in order to restore honor to the Herd and retrieve the Titanstone Knuckles, he procceeded to take advantage of the severely uneven odds (Grog didn't even have a weapon and Kevdak was unfairly using the Knuckles) and curbstomps Grog before impaling him on a piece of wood.
- After he spots Grog's friends, Pike, Scanlan, and Kaylie, he had them captured and deduced that Grog cared about the gnome Pike Trickfoot the most and forces Grog and the other heroes to watch as he attempted to crush her under his boot and promised to make her head squash.
- When Grog pleads for Kevdak to not kill Pike, he taunts him by saying that its his own fault for showing up to Westruun and bringing his friends along.
- Once Grog broke free and saved Pike, he instead decided to force his friends to watch as he attempted to strangle Grog to death, mocking him for getting his strength from his friends.
- He ordered the Herd to wipe out the rest of Vox Machina when they came to save the day and tried to kill Zanror for saving Grog, before the latter killed him once and for all.
