Ha Ha! So what? We have different objectives. I do not wish for a world without cursed spirits. Or an idyllic and peaceful world. Non-sorcerers. Sorcerers. Cursed spirits. These are all possibilities…. of cursed energy in the form of human beings. And yet... there must be more… to human potential. I tried to bring that forth myself. But that doesn’t work. What I can create… does not exceed the bounds of my own potential. The answer is always… flickering darkly in chaos. Do you understand? What I should have created was chaos that not even I could control.
~ Kenjaku to Yuki Tsukumo whilst fighting the sorcerers in Shibuya
It just sounds fascinating, but I won't know for sure until it happens. What if the accumulated Cursed Energy of a hundred million people ends up looking like a funny clown face, then what'd you do? I know I'd laugh.
~ Kenjaku's motivations

Kenjaku, also known as Suguru Geto or Pseudo-Geto and formerly known as Noritoshi Kamo and Kaori Itadori, is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Ryomen Sukuna) of the supernatural action manga/anime series Jujutsu Kaisen.

A sorcerer dating back to a thousand years. Kenjaku had been surviving throughout millennia by implanting his brain into various hosts using his Innate Technique and stealing their Cursed Techniques. With a master plan of merging all of Japan to Master Tengen to create an apocalyptic abomination that spans all across a thousand years, Kenjaku has been the cause of most suffering in the story. Having even given birth to the series' protagonist, Yuji Itadori, to be the initial vessel to resurrect Sukuna.

In geto's body, he was voiced by Takahiro Sakurai in Japanese, who also voiced Griffith in the 1997 adaptation of Berserk, and by Lex Lang in the English dub, who also voiced Anjuro "Angelo" Katagiri in JoJo's Bizarre Adventures: Diamond is Unbreakable.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

In General[]

  • While he put on an affable persona this is ultimately false as he regards his allies, and even his own sons as either tools, or sources of entertainment, and would not hesitate to throw them away.
  • Even compared to the King of Curses, Sukuna, Kenjaku was regarded as the most evil sorcerer in the series, with even the heroes saying they would rather let Sukuna rampage through Japan then let Kenjaku succeed in the Merger plan. So While the King of Curses represents the ultimate physical threat and serves as Yuji's main adversary, it's Kenjaku who set the story's events in motion. His ambitions also surpass Sukuna's unpredictable cruelty.
  • Kenjaku is indifferent to who gets hurt or killed in pursuit of his goals. Unlike Mahito or Sukuna, he isn't overtly sadistic and seldom causes suffering or kills directly unless it serves his plans. However, those who catch his interest should be very concerned about their fate, as evidenced by the woman used for Cursed Spirit hybrids by "Noritoshi Kamo."
  • At the end of the day, Kenjaku is a self-interested sociopath with no true care for any being but himself. Anyone else is slotted into categories of "Useful" or "Entertainment" and how they relate to Kenjaku's wants and desires. He's not capable of caring about anyone beyond that.
  • Although Kenjaku has his fair share of comedic moments, these are all part of his laidback exterior used to hide the depravity of what he is actually capable of, and the horrible crimes he ends up committing are during the Shibuya Incident are treated completely seriously and appropriately horrific, which Kenjaku orchestrated to take the center stage and be the sole victor. In simple terms He is undeniably Laughably Evil, providing a definite source of hilarity. However, when it comes to being genuinely menacing, his presence in the story and the horrid crimes he commits are portrayed with grave seriousness. The narrative does not downplay the horrors he has inflicted. His slack, comedically laid-back attitude only amplifies his creepiness and highlights his disturbing depravity, as his comedic demeanor is merely a facade.
  • A huge chunk of the death and misery in the series is all tied to Kenjaku, who has a direct influence over much of it, including the acts of Ryomen Sukuna and Mahito.
  • Ultimately sought to force all of the humans in Japan to be merged with Master Tengen to form a grotesque abomination that would eventually destroy the entire world. His motive for such a horrid plan is only because he was curious to see if said abomination might end up looking absurd and wanted to see if it could potentially amuse him.
  • By possessing Yuji’s mother, Kenjaku indirectly influenced Yuji’s fate, leading him into the world of jujutsu sorcery and making him a vessel for Sukuna.

Past[]

  • Using his Cursed Technique to transplants his brain into countless hosts to survive a thousand years. Through them he sowed the seeds of death and destruction.
  • He is the one who taught Ryomen Sukuna how to split his soul into cursed objects so he could reincarnate in the present day which makes him directly responsible for Sukuna's continued existence in the present day and all the crimes he committed.
  • When a woman came to one of the Kamo Temples, while possessing Noritoshi Kamo, Kenjaku subjected the woman to a horrible trial of experiments that saw her raped, forcing her to 9 pregnancies, before aborting them, and reincarnated the fetuses into the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings. When the Death Paintings didn't measure up to their standards, he treated this horrendous act as a failed experiment, and found the resentment the Death Paintings had against Kenjaku for all the suffering their mother had to go through amusing. This and numerous other unspecified crimes that lead to "Noritoshi Kamo" being regarded as the most evil sorcerer in history.
  • At some point in the modern era, Kenjaku transplanted his brain and possesses the body of Jin Itadori's wife: Kaori, implied to have personally killed her. Posing as her, Kenjaku used her body to mate with Jin (raping him due to his unawareness of this fact) and give birth to her son: Yuji for a purpose, to be Sukuna's eventual vessel.

Present[]

  • Possesses Suguru Geto's body for his own benefit. When Geto's apprentices, Nanako and Mimiko, tried to make a deal with Kenjaku to give them Geto's body back. He mocked the sister, saying the Cursed Spirits were smarter than them. When the sisters demanded Kenjaku give them back the body of Geto, he revealed he never intended on keeping his promise, and tells the two they should've made a pact that could never be broken he then threatened them saying to leave unless they wanted to be killed.
  • Used cursed spirit manipulation on his son Yuji after he demanded for him to give back Gojo not caring about his psychical state simply stating that him as Sukuna’s vessel is tough
  • Recruited a gang of Disaster Curses who all sought to wipe out humanity, enabling them to do various missions that will see numerous lives endangered.
  • He almost killed Miwa by using Uzumaki, the only reason she was lucky to survive was thanks to Utahime’s and Kusakabe’s arrival.
  • While he did go along with the group and had a few playful moments, he only did so to look genuine to the group because they were useful to him and shared the same values and goals. Unlike Jogo, Hanami and Dagon who genuinely cared about each other, Kenjaku did not care about the Disaster Curses, with Mahito revealing that he always planned on having them all killed, before personally killing Mahito for outliving his usefulness.
  • He is the one who planted the Sukuna finger at the detention center making him responsible for all the deaths that Sukuna will cause in the present day, which is by the thousands, as well as all the suffering Yuji would go through having sired him just for this purpose
  • He enabled Mahito's initial rampage, giving him a finger of Sukuna to lure a Cursed Spirit to kill Nagi Yoshino so that Mahito could corrupt her son, Junpei, and make a pact with Sukuna.
  • Has Hanami attack Jujutsu High during the Kyoto Goodwill Event, endangering everyone. Hanami was used as a mere distraction for Mahito to steal 3 Death Paintings.
  • Forcing the 3 Death Paintings to possess human captives, incarnating Yuji's older half-brothers: Choso, Eso and Kechizu, and used them as pawns to retrieve more of Sukuna's fingers. When Kechizu and Eso died, despite them being his own sons, he didn't even care about them.
  • Plotted the Shibuya Incident, the most deadly act of terrorism in Jujutsu Society. Sealing off the entire city, Kenjaku masterminded a devastating attack that would see hundreds of thousands human beings killed or by being idly transfigured. Which is portrayed as a fate worse than death as humans are turned into beings that are in constant pain and begging for help. And while Mahito was the one responsible for the transfiguration Kenjaku still plays a large act in being indirectly responsible for the deaths considering it was his plan in the first place. He is also indirectly responsible for Jogo force feeding Yuji the fingers, which would lead to Sukuna who decimates a vast chunk of Shibuya, and all of this was just for the purpose of sealing Satoru Gojo.
  • Unleashed 10 million deadly curses onto 23 wards in Japan, causing widespread havoc, and destruction forcing millions to evacuate, and killing millions more.
  • While talking with Jogo in a cafe. The latter later had killed everyone by setting them to flames during this situation, Kenjaku showed no empathy or concern whatsoever for the innocents dying with him simply stating he wish he wouldn’t cause such a commotion .
  • He Has Manipulated the United States government into deploying soldiers to kidnap various Jujutsu Sorcerers and forced them to be living batteries. Just so they all could be mercilessly slaughtered by cursed spirits to build up more cursed energy for his plan.
  • Threatened death to all non-sorcerers in the numerous colonies he set up for the Culling Games, to force them out of their homes, and keep them from the barrier.
    • While he does give them a chance to leave the Game this is purely pragmatic as by giving them a way out he strengthens the barrier to keep people in and given his goal to merge Tengen with them he would want to keep them alive until then.
  • Sets up the Culling Games, where about a thousand sorcerers, both good and evil, are threatened with a force curse removal, which is noted to be a potentially lethal trick, to participate in a death game where everyone has to kill each other to break Master Tengen for the merger.
  • Upon admitting to Choso, that the latter was nothing more than a mere pawn to him and having Choso almost kill his younger half-brother: Yuji Itadori. Kenjaku brutally beat Choso down and tried to kill him. Who only managed to live thanks to Yuki Tsukumo.
  • Inflicted a fatal blow on Yuki and then took control over Master Tengen.
  • Resurrected Ryomen Sukuna, making him indirectly responsible for his actions enabling all the death, and destruction that would occur. He also Used him as his failsafe for the Merger plan to occur even in the event he dies.
  • Attempts to have all the sorcerers within the Culling Games killed, including his sons: Yuji and Choso, so that he, Uraume and Sukuna will be the only ones left alive to initiate the Merger.
  • Tried to break Fumihiko Takaba down mentally by critiquing his comedy and mocking his distress upon seeing a fellow sorcerer's corpse so that he can be able to kill him. Even if he seemingly respected him afterwards, this is only because Kenjaku had fun fighting him, satisfying his whims and once done will kill him without looking back.
  • Spent his final moments gloating about how he transferred control of his plans over to Sukuna, gleeful that his destructive plans will come to fruition after his death.

Trivia[]

  • He and Mahito are the only two villains in Jujutsu Kaisen to be Pure Evil.
  • In chapter 270 in a panel scene of takaba, a person silhouette appears to look similar to Kenjaku, appearing to be his new comedic partner, if this is comfirmed he would be removed from the Pure Evil Status, but due to ambiguity, it's left uncomfirmed.
    • It is unlikely to be Kenjaku due to his brain was eaten by Rika and It's either likely from Takaba's technique cloning "Geto", or Takaba found a replacement and dressed up the doppelganger to be like Geto.
