~ Katz catchphrase
Katz is the main antagonist of Cartoon Network’s Courage the Cowardly Dog TV Series. He is a cat that usually runs a business and uses said businesses to commit crimes and murder people. He is also the arch-nemesis of Courage.
In "A Night At Katz Motel", he is shown running a motel where his guests enter but never exit as he has them fed to his giant, mutated spiders. He attempts to do the same to Muriel and Eustace once they check in to the motel.
In "Klub Katz", he had people who joined his club turned into machines against their wills. He has them spar in an arena for his own amusement resulting in them killing each other and taking sadistic delight in doing so. It's even implied that he's forced family members to kill each other with his line "I love a good family brawl".
He once again tries to do the same to Eustace and Muriel.
In "Katz Kandy", he attempts to murder Muriel, because she refuses to give him the recipe for her biscuits, as he always loses to her at cooking competitions.
In "Katz Under the Sea", he runs another business where his guests are on a submarine. However, Katz attempts to bomb the ship with everyone on board to hurt another business. While attempting to bomb the submarine, Katz tried to save himself and leave everyone else to their demise. Despite being eaten by a shark, he managed to bomb the ship.
In "Ball of Revenge", he is one of Courage's past foes who joins Eustace to get rid of Courage once and for all. However, he only teamed up with him for pragmatic reasons.
Most of the time, his actions are done solely for his own, sadistic and twisted entertainment, at the expense of the overall suffering of others, as seen in "Klub Katz". Other times, it is also based on egoism, as seen in "Katz Kandy".
Katz expresses sadism while encountering Courage. He prefers to prolong the dog’s pain by setting up games knowing that Muriel and others are in danger. In "A Night At Katz Motel", Katz expressed intense glee as he was about to murder Courage with a giant spider.
While he did refer to his spiders as his "loves", he didn't show any explicit care for them nor did he try to save them from danger. Instead he treats them as nothing more than mere tools for his goals.
While one might say his "little sports" are him being "honorable" towards his victims (saying that if they win he'll let them live), this isn't the case as it's known that he knows he will always beat his victims and he only wants to play these types of games to torture his victims, making their fates all the more slow and painful.
He utterly detests dogs, and strongly infers he hates his archenemy simply for being one rather than constantly foiling his plans.
While he did join Eustace it was only because he adores his sadism. He also took the opportunity because he wanted to make Courage suffer for his own enjoyment and then kill him (and likely Muriel) in the most cruel possible fashion.
He openly takes sadistic pleasure in his crimes and brags about his lack of remorse for them, completely staying evil the end of the story.
While he has numerous comedic moments such as getting trapped in taffy or torturing Murial by mixing the colors in the washer, he is still taken seriously as a threat in-universe, and therefore these do not detract from his heinousness.
Trivia[]
His movie version doesn't qualify, as he is affable and has some comedic moments that detract from his heinousness (such as failing to see Courage, Scooby, and Shaggy's disguises).
