Malachai "Kai" Parker is a major antagonist of CW TV series The Vampire Diaries and a minor antagonist of the sequel series Legacies.

Kai is a young warlock with the unnatural power to siphon magic from other witches. Because of this power, Kai was considered an abomination by his family, as he is practically a parasite for magic and unable to lead his family's coven, which led him to becoming a soiciopath. After murdering his younger siblings to claim their power, he was trapped in a prison world, and became hellbent on getting revenge against the ones who put him there and controlling his family's coven.

He was portrayed by Chris Wood.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

In General[]

  • As a Siphoner, he had the power to siphon magic from any magic user he came into contact with, which causes the user great pain or death if he took all of it.
  • Despite the fact, he was abused and neglected as a child by his family when he was revealed to be a Siphoner, it would make him a tragic figure, the fact that he showed no remorse for their deaths or the suffering he caused to people who were completely unrelated to his tragedy make him an inhuman monster devoid of any sympathy.

Past[]

  • After realizing he wasn’t going to merge with his twin sister Jo and that he wouldn't become the leader of the Gemini Coven, he snaps and kills his young siblings so that he could be the only one. He also does it in a brutal and sadistic manner:
    • He hung two unnamed siblings off a stairwell railing.
    • He stabbed an unnamed sister by putting a hunting knife in her abdomen.
    • He drowned his brother, Joey, in the pool. He even mentions that even though his brother fought him off, he called him ungrateful for saving him for last, which horrified Bonnie Bennett.
    • He cut out his twin sister, Jo's spleen with a hunting knife, even he claims he wanted to cut out lungs and kill her, but spared her because he needed her for the Merge Ritual.
    • He attempted to kill Luke as a child, so he and Jo would be the only twins for the ritual, until he escaped with Liv. He then killed an adult Luke in the Merge Ritual in order to take his magic and become the Gemini Coven's leader.
    • He attempted to kill Liv as a child, so he and Jo would be the only twins for the ritual, until she escaped with Luke.

The Vampire Diaries[]

  • He tried to kill Damon Salvatore by tricking him into drinking vervain-laced booze, then splashed him with the booze, and the tried to stake him with a broken broom handle. It was revealed that he only did so to scare Bonnie into reawakening her magic.
  • He taunted and manipulated Damon and Bonnie in to helping him escape from the Prison World, even forcing Damon to reveal that he murdered a pregnant Gail in 1994 (which is why the Prison World resembles 1994 Mystic Falls).
  • After Bonnie refuses to help him escape and Damon tells her to escape, but to leave Kai, he tortures them both by siphoning Bonnie's magic and gives Damon a stroke. He then threatens to siphon all of Bonnie's magic and kill them both if they don’t help him escape.
  • Bluffs about knowing a spell to get himself, Damon, and Bonnie out of the Prison World and then tries to siphon all of Bonnie's magic after she tells him to, only to relent because he needs her blood to activate the Ascendant and free them.
  • Shoots Bonnie with a crossbow, after she tried to kill him and threatened to shoot her again in the heart, killing her.
  • Tries to use the activated Ascendant to escape the Prison World and enact his revenge, only to fight with Damon, which leads him stabbing Damon with an arrow and trying to kill him.
  • Knocks out and kidnaps Bonnie in order to find a magic-enhanced hunting knife, so he can stab her and take her blood, which would allow him to do another spell to escape the Prison World.
  • Makes a deal with Bonnie to go their separate ways in the Prison World, only to break the deal and leave an injured Bonnie in an unknown part of the Prison World.
  • After escaping the Prison World, he kills a taxi driver with wired earbuds because he didn't have enough for cab fare.
  • He confronts Liv at her work and tries to kill her by siphoning her magic but is stopped by Tyler Lockwood.
  • He attacks Elena Gilbert and Damon with magic he siphoned from Liv and uses it to psychologically torture Damon and destroy the Ascendant which prevents Bonnie from coming home too. He also forces Damon to push him over the Anti-Magic border of Mystic Falls which can allow him to get to Liv.
  • He links a comatose Elena to Bonnie and places a sleep spell on her, which could only be broken if Bonnie dies.

Legacies[]

To Be Added

Trivia[]

  • To highlight his Pure Evil status, the show’s creators Julie Plec and Caroline Dries said in an interview that Kai is irredeemable.
