Julia Cotton is the stepmother of Kirsty Cotton and the secondary antagonist of the 1986 original novella The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker, as well as its 1987 film adaptation Hellraiser and its 1988 sequel Hellbound: Hellraiser II.
She was portrayed by Clare Higgins, while her skinless self was portrayed by Deborah Joel.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- While she claimed she loved Frank Cotton, it becomes clear that this isn't genuine love and more of an obsession. Even if her love for Frank was true, it's all gone by the time of Hellbound: Hellraiser II.
- While she initially refused to kill her husband Larry, she later helped Frank murder him with no hesitation or remorse so Frank could wear his skin.
- Though her first murder was portrayed sympathetically, and she does show much remorse, Julia subverts this trait by continuing to murder two people for Frank. By the time of her second kill, she doesn't seem to mind it at all.
- Helped Frank attempt to rape Kirsty-her own stepdaughter.
- Drained several of Phillip Channard's patients to make herself whole.
- Seduced Dr. Kyle MacRae and drank his blood, making her whole again. When Kirsty comes across his corpse, Julia taunts her about killing him and knocks her out when Kirsty attacks her.
- Betrayed Channard to use him as a sacrifice to the Leviathan and he becomes a dangerous Cenobite.
- Ripped Frank's heart out when they met again in hell.
- Attempts to kill Kirsty as well as a mentally handicapped teenager, Tiffany.
