Jolly Roger is the main antagonist of Pirates of the Caribbean Online, a MMORPG video game based on the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, which is based itself on the Disney theme park attraction of the same name.

He is a powerful undead pirate captain who tries to conquer the Caribbean with his undead crew. He is bent on getting back at Captain Jack Sparrow for winning over a Piece of Eight, which led him to be cursed into an undead pirate when he murdered a voodoo doctor who was unable to help him get Jack's Piece.

He was voiced by Steve Blum, who also voiced Vilgax and Zs'Skayr in the Ben 10 franchise, the Green Goblin in The Spectacular Spider-Man and Darkseid in Justice League: War, Ares in God of War, Red Skull in Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the Loki Master in Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, Sauron in the Middle Earth: Shadow games, Jindiao in Kung Fu Panda: Paws of Destiny, Starscream in Transformers: Prime and Smytus in My Life as a Teenage Robot.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • He shot the voodoo witch doctor, Amo Dorsi, dead because he just failed to win over Jack Sparrow's Piece of Eight, leading Dorsi to curse him and turn him into an undead pirate.
  • He attacked countless ships and ports over the Caribbean to feed on the souls of innocent people.
  • He raised many of his victims from the dead so they could serve as his crew in order to conquer the Caribbean and kill Jack Sparrow, whose head he wanted to see on a plate in spite of their former friendship.
  • He hired Captain Bo Beck to bring Jack Sparrow to him, and when Beck let go Sparrow in exchange of double payment, he transformed Beck into yet another one of his undead crew members, despite Beck's willingness to hand him his payment for betraying him.
  • He spared the protagonist, but rather than doing so out of mercy, he just did it so the protagonist could live to tell his tale to other people and terrorize them.
  • He tried to cast the Curse of the Muertos Moon to transform every pirate caught in its rays into undead beings for his crew.
  • He tricked a group of buccaneers into invading Port Royal, Padres Del Fuego, and Tortuga as a distraction while he went to search for the mythical lost weapons of El Patron, even facing the East India Trading Company and rival pirates in the process.
  • He has no valid excuse for his actions nor a tragic past. He just became jealous because his friend, Jack Sparrow, was given a Piece of Eight, which he felt that he deserved more than him, and for such reason, he hired Amo Dorsi to take the Piece from Sparrow. When that failed and he became cursed for killing Dorsi, rather than accepting his own fault, he blamed Sparrow for his condition, demonstrating his extreme selfishness and stubbornness.

Trivia[]

  • He is the only Pure Evildoer of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise who came from a video game.
