John Boy is the secondary antagonist of the 2016 neo-noir buddy action comedy film The Nice Guys.
He is a professional hitman who is the boss for The Older Guy and was sent to eliminate Holland March, his daughter, Jackson and Amelia.
He was portrayed by Matt Bomer.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Even before the film's events, John Boy was a ruthless hitman for the Detroit mob, gaining a reputation for his brutality amongst other criminals, including Blueface.
- Sent in to elimnate Amelia Kuttner and get the Misty Mountain film, John Boy starts out by slaughtering several businessman at the Burbank Airport Western Hotel by slashing their throats, shooting them, and throwing them out windows.
- Disguising as the Kuttner family doctor, Dr. Malek, John Boy enters March's home and attempts to kill Holly, Jessica, and Amelia, throwing Jessica out of a window before opening heavy fire on March and Healy when they arrive.
- When he drives away to avoid the cops and finds Amelia (stupidly) running away from March's house, John Boy shoots and kills her and drives off.
- Still intent on retrieving the Misty Mountains film, John Boy goes to the L.A Auto Show and finds the teenage projectionalist Chet and has him show him the film before beating Chet to near-death and leaving him in a dumpster.
- Once the film is shown anyway in the projection at the show, John Boy sees it and starts shooting at the projector and tosses a grenade into the crowd, which kills someone and endangers many others, before starting a shootout with March and Healy.
- Throughout his further attempts to get the film, John Boy brutally kills several more people, including blowing someone up with a grenade from his suit, before attempting to kill Healy himself.
- While the film is a comedy, John Boy is treated as a very serious and feared threat and has no comedic (or darkly comedic) moments, being taken much more serious than the rest of the villains.
- While the Older Guy is also taken generally seriously as well, he only has one attempt on Holly's life, and also seems to have standards against March bringing a child on such a dangerous mission while also being drunk and a bad parent in general.
