John Anderson, also known as The Greenskeeper, is the titular main antagonist of the 2002 slasher film. He is the co-owner of a country club in Atlanta.
He is portrayed by Bruce Taylor, while John Rocker portrayed him in The Greenskeeper disguise.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Sabotaged a lawn-mower, waited for his brother to try and fix it, and dropped a match, causing an explosion which disfigured and nearly killed his brother.
- Did this because he was jealous of his brother's life.
- Upon finding out his nephew/step-son, Allen, was going to take over the country club on his twenty-fifth birthday, John disguised himself as the local urban legend, The Greenskeeper, and killed 10 people all to make it look like Allen was a victim of a random maniac.
- While some of his murders are standard, they are two that really stand out as painful and brutal.
- Lifts up Chet and mutilates his genitals with a golf ball washer.
- Uses a hole cutter to bore a hole through a couple having sex on the golf course.
- Attempts to frame his brother as the killer, and even shoots him.
- During his explanation, John is nothing but arrogant and even comes off as taking sadistic glee in what he's done.
- When his brother tries to attack him, John pleads mercy, claiming that Mrs. Anderson made him do it. This is a distraction, however, as John finds a sprinkler hose and kills him by stabbing him with it.
- Most slasher villains are either mentally ill, tragic, or enigmatic. John is completely sane, and did everything for money and to own a country club, making him very unique in the genre.
- Has no redeeming qualities, mitigating factors or a Freudian Excuse.
