NOTE: This page is only about her original version due to her non-canon Chop Till You Drop version being a mindless and special type of zombie, and thus only the canon version of Jo Slade's info and crimes should be put here. |

~ Jo, threatening Frank to kill him if he intervenes. |
Jo Slade is a minor antagonist in the 2006 video game Dead Rising and its 2024 remaster. She is found in the Lovely Fashion House at 1 PM on September 20th during the scoop "Above The Law." She is a sadistic police officer who uses the outbreak as a chance to commit crimes without repercussions which included kidnapping at least four women (Kay Nelson, Lilly Deacon, Kelly Carpenter, and Janet Star) in order to verbally, physically, and sexually abuse them (although she apparently had even more hostages according to Janet Star but they were killed by Jo before Frank arrived).
She was voiced by Carol Bach Y Rita in the Original and Anzu Lawson in the Remaster.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- Took advantage of the outbreak in order to torture and kill any women that she finds, kidnapping at least 7 of them and tying them up in a clothing store where she then proceeded to sodomize them with a nightstick and torture them over the course of hours, resulting in their deaths.
- It is implied that she tried to abduct Tonya Waters, shooting Tonya's boyfriend, Ross Folk, when he intervened. Ross's injuries are severe enough that he will commit suicide if given a gun by Frank West.
- Excitedly threatens to molest Kay with a nightstick for denying luring Frank into the clothing store and begins molesting her with it. This was not the first time either as she begs Jo not to do it again and Jo visibly takes pleasure in the mental and sexual torture she inflicts, sadistically smiling as she causes it during her intro cutscene.
- After she threatens Frank, she tells him not to interfere with official police business otherwise she will start with him before she gets to Kay, with her holding a nightstick next to her genitals after she said that, revealing she plans to have him taken hostage and raped as well.
- During the fight, she will attempt to stun Frank so she can go back to torturing the hostages with beatings and electrocutions, and if she tortures them enough, she will kill them.
- Sometimes after stunning Frank, she will instead follow up by sexually assaulting him by stomping on his groin. Proving her previous intentions correct.
- After the four women were rescued by Frank, they all showed disgust at what Jo had done to them, with them being traumatized or negatively affected by their experience with her in some way.
- She is proven to have full moral agency as she had enough self control to realize she could commit her horrible acts without repercussions, is shown to be more intelligent and openly sane then the majority of so called "psychopaths" in the series and after being defeated by Frank, she does not snap back into reality or show any remorse for what she has done, instead writhing in pain and calling Frank a "worthless prick" because he managed to defeat her. In the Remaster, she also calls everyone evil and states how much they deserve to die. Showing how hypocritical she actually is.
- She meets the heinous standard with her tortures and rapes inflicted on her hostages, along with her decent kill count and attempted body count, which are pretty unique crimes for the series, along with having the most amount of hostages affected by her actions with four in total, while most psychopaths only have around 1-2 at best.
- Especially as an ordinary police officer with no special weapons, Jo easily stands apart even compared to Sgt. Schmittendorff.
- In addition, she has extremely meager resources: herself, a pistol, a night stick, her stun gun, and handcuffs, making her crimes exceptionally unique.
- Unlike most other psychopaths, she also allows zombies to attack her hostages. Showing how much pain she is willing to bring them.
- While she warns Frank not to get involved in her business if he wants to live. It isn't because of having some mercy but because of her feeling power and control. In fact, she can randomly attack Frank, proving that she lied.
