Jimmy Detillo is the main antagonist of the 1993 action thriller Striking Distance.
He is a former Pittsburgh police officer and a brutal serial killer nicknamed the Polish Hill Strangler. Obsessed with getting back at his cousin Detective Tom Hardy for trying to arrest him for being brutal with suspects in service, Detillo resurfaces two years later willing to ruin his cousin's life by threatening anyone close to him.
He was portrayed by the late Robert Pastorelli.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He kidnapped several women by incapacitating them with a taser, toyed with them with a remote controlled police car toy and finally strangled them to death.
- Before killing his victim he called the police and played the song "Little Red Riding Hood" to taunt them.
- He beat up a suspect for an unknown reason.
- He thrown himself off a bridge to avoid being sent to prison but survived the fall.
- He remorselessly let an innocent man being accused of his crimes.
- Although indirectly, he was responsible of Hardy's fall into alcoholism.
- To avenge himself from Hardy's treason he killed several women close to him with almost the same Modus Operandi that he used before (instead of strangle them he shot them) and tormented Hardy by calling him before he killed them.
- He kidnapped Jo Christman, Hardy's actual partner.
- He killed Kim Lee a colleague of Hardy, put her corpse close to Hardy's home and put the murder weapon in it to frame him.
- He neutralized Hardy with a taser when this one went to the Detillo's cabin.
- He tied up to a chair Hardy, Christman and his own brother Danny.
- He mocked Hardy for not having caught him.
- He hit his brother and insulted him because he sided with Hardy.
- He forced Hardy to drink a bottle of alcohol.
- He gleefully killed his own father when this one tried to stop him (although he did despicable things to protect his son he didn't deserved to die).
- He tried to électrocute Hardy with his taser when they fought in the river.
- Although he incited his father to reveal the truth about the death of Vince Hardy, he did that only to torment him.
- Even if he loved his family at the time he was the Polish Hill Strangler he shredded this love later in the movie by joyfully killing his father and assaulting his brother without remorse.
