No such thing as secrecy. I OWN secrecy. Nuclear codes? I could blow up NATO in alphabetical order. In a world of locked rooms, the man with the key is king. And, honey, you should see me in a crown.
~ Moriarty taunting Sherlock Holmes

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Killed Carl Powers at a young age simply for laughing at him by putting a deadly poison into his medication.
  • Got Jeff Hope to force four people to kill themselves by giving money to his children's trust fund for everyone he killed.
    • While he did gave Hope's children money, he did it only to make sure that he will continue forcing people to kill themselves.
  • Helped the Black Lotus crime syndicate to enter the UK to kill their enemies.
  • Had General Shan assassinated so she couldn't reveal his identity.
  • Orchestrating an elaborate game with Sherlock by strapping explosives onto victims, who communicated with Sherlock and would lead him to cases, making him solve those cases within a period of time or the victims would be killed.
  • Murdered one of the elderly victims of his game when she began to describe Moriarty, killing twelve others in the process.
  • Assisted in the murder of Connie Prince and bankrolled the Golem to kill Alex Woodbridge and Professor Cairns as part of his game.
  • Strapping a child with explosives and giving Sherlock only ten seconds to figure out a crime before the bomb would go off.
  • Strapping bombs to John Watson and threatening to kill him in front of Sherlock, then prepares to have both of them killed.
  • Tried to sell British intelligence information to terrorists, potentially endangering hundreds of lives.
  • Orchestrated a large-scale crime of stealing the crown jewels, breaking into the Bank of England, and Pentonville Prison, and for the trial, threatened all the members of the jury with killing their loved ones if they did not return a not guilty verdict.
  • Systematically began to tear down Sherlock's reputation through a series of crimes that made it seem as though Sherlock was simply a fraud who created crimes himself and solved them to make himself look like an ace detective.
  • Kidnapped two children, poisoning them by having them consume mercury-laced candy, and psychologically torturing them so that they would scream at the image of Sherlock and make it seem as though he was the one who kidnapped them.
  • Threatened to have John, Mrs. Hudson, and Lestrade killed by snipers if Sherlock did not commit suicide by jumping off the roof, ultimately killing himself just to make sure Sherlock had no way out.
  • Carried out seventy terrorist attacks and robberies and four political assassinations in one year, as revealed in "The Six Thatchers".
  • Manipulated Eurus Holmes with his meeting with her, managing to turn her even more depraved and immoral than before and setting her down a darker path.
  • Has no excuse for his crimes other than sheer boredom, having no concern with the lives of others by claiming that dying is simply what people do and has absolutely no morals whatsoever.
  • Even though he is shown to be a highly comedic villain, it doesn't detract from his villainy at all. In fact, it sometimes showcases his lack of care for anyone (including himself).

Trivia[]

  • The main reason why the authors made him Pure Evil is that they thought that image of an Affably Evil Mastermind was too common.
