“ | To an Englishwoman such as myself, this whole affair is a farcical comedy. Your little police games and these foolish courtroom antics... It's laughable, really. | „ |

“ | Brett: I don't like to repeat myself, but honestly, I can't resist. These childish courtroom games and your half-baked arguments are all so puerile. Ryunosuke: What, what do you mean? Brett: Don't worry, little schoolboy, you'll find out soon enough. You see, when you leave vital evidence lying around, you never know what might happen to it. I mean, it could just...slip. |

Asa Shinn, better known as Jezaille Brett, is a major antagonist of The Great Ace Attorney duology, being the main antagonist of The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures first case, "The Adventure of the Great Departure" and a posthumous antagonist of The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve.
She is a supposed transfer student from the British Kingdom studying in Japan under the tutoring of John H. Wilson. In actuality however, she is an assassin for The Professor Conspiracy, being hired by Mael Stronghart to murder John H. Wilson.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- Although it is vague, it is told that before the events of the story, she was still known as an assassin in the dark corners of Britain.
- She was hired by Mael Stronghart to be his main assassin in The Reaper's killings, where she would assassinate anybody who were acquitted in trials where Barok van Zieks was the prosecutor, working with Tobias Gregson to make it look like an accident and have it so that Barok would seem to be cursed, tallying up to 16 victims who were killed this way.
- This would deeply affect Barok's reputation, as he would constantly get attacked by people who believed that he was the assassin of the reaper's killings and would eventually retire for 5 years to make the killings stop.
- She was then sent by Stronghart to assassinate John H. Wilson under the assassin's exchange, where due to the treaty of Japan and Britain, she would manage to get away with the assassination even if she was caught by the police and proven guilty of it.
- Her method of assassination would be of a poison that is not well known in Japan entering a wound of the doctor's mouth, where she would then later shoot the corpse.
- Curare, the poison she used, caused a painful death as Wilson suffocated to death due to becoming paralyzed and not being able to breathe.
- With that, she would try to frame Ryunosuke Naruhodo for the murder, even when she had nothing to gain from it.
- Even worse, if Ryunosuke Naruhodo and Kazuma Asogi were unable to prove Naruhodo’s innocence it is likely that Naruhodo would have been sentenced to either life imprisonment or death, and since this case takes place in Meiji Era Japan it is unlikely that appeals even existed back then.
- When she was summoned to testify, she would constantly talk down on the Japanese and everyone who were associated in the courtroom, often making racist remarks.
- When she was put in a corner by the bottle she filled with curare in the courtroom, she would take it and break it in front of everyone, mocking them about the fact that they couldn't retrieve the vital part of evidence.
- Although she said when she was caught that she hoped that Ryunosuke would forgive him, this was likely done as another mockery as she was already mocking him before and nothing indicates that she cared about him, especially because she was trying to blame him for murder.
- When she had just a month of transfer to the court of Shanghai under British rule, she was encountered by Raiten Menimemo who wanted to interview her on how she got away with the murder of Wilson, to which she responded by comparing him to a caveman who can't identify between journalism and rudely interrupting, telling him to buzz off. This would cause Menimemo to murder her.
- Although she claims to hold her country in high regard, this is very likely just used as an excuse to mock foreigners and out of her own pride.
- She's easily the evilest of The Professor Conspirators, as almost all of the rest of the members are Well Intentioned Extremists in some way, and many had redeeming qualities as loved ones or Freudian excuses. She however lacks any of them and is just seen as a racist and cold assassin who doesn't care for anyone.
- Given this, she's possibly the evilest out of the whole cast of the two games.
- Despite working under Stronghart, she manages to stand out from him by having lower resources and her own personality separate from him.
