~ Captain Harvey upon killing his subordinates

Janus Harvey is the victim of Operation: Turnabout. Although he serves as the victim of the case, he also serves as the secondary antagonist of Operation: Turnabout. He was the Captain of the Demolition Unit of the Peacemakers base in Los Angeles. He was an abusive and horrible man that always put his own interests above others. This caused him to commit abusive and heinous acts in order to keep himself above others at all times. His actions had a lasting impact on others even after he was murdered by Adel Renard.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Verbally abuses his subordinates for little mistakes and gripes.
  • Out of greed, he gave a supply of bombs to an intelligence officer for payment never second guessing what he was actually planning.
  • When he was told he gave it to an insurgent group, he decided to blow up his subordinates to leave no witnesses behind. To make his actions even worse, he verbally reprimanded Charlie November into going back to his post by the bombs he set up.
  • Even though he was manipulated into committing mass murder, this is far from an excuse. Adel Renard only took advantage of the fact that he was a corrupt and disreputable person. Captain Harvey also brought the situation on himself.
  • He gaslighted Lt. Victoria into thinking she accidentally caused the incident and blackmailed her into doing his work for him as a result. This was done while she was in the hospital suffering from severe injuries from the incident he caused.
  • He doesn't feel any remorse for the incident. In fact, he doesn't blame himself for the incident at all. Captain Harvey genuinely believed everyone else was responsible for his mass murder because he felt that they "pushed" him to choose to kill his own subordinates even when they had every reason to not trust him as a leader.
  • When he saw Mike November was joining his base, he made it a priority to harass him the most. This was only because he didn't want him to look into the Helios 6 Incident.
  • Agreed to confess his crime to the Allied Nations in exchange for a promotion to Major. This was done so he could have legal immunity over it.
  • Made Absolution Day on the date where little to no people would be on the base. This was done so there were less people to try to ruin his promotion.
  • Only felt fear for the incident when he realized Captain Renard was going to kill him.
  • Throws a glass at Mike November and curses Charlie November's name before he is finished off by Captain Renard.
  • Even though he's a victim, he does not suffer from off screen villainy. We see the incident unfold through a flashback. The visibility, impact, and heinous standards of his actions are much higher than other victims and stands out alongside other Ace Attorney Pure Evil Villains. In fact, his actions were so bad, unlike other hate sink Ace Attorney victims not only do people not care that he died, but they outright celebrated and were relieved he died including the once accused of his murder.

Trivia[]

  • He is currently the only victim to be an Ace Attorney Pure Evil as he suffers less from off screen villainy and his actions and impact stands out.
  • As a posthumous victim, his confirmed direct kill count exceeds most Ace Attorney victims, if not all in any Ace Attorney media.
  • He and Adel Renard are the only current Ace Attorney Pure Evils to debut from the same case. He also currently the only Ace Attorney Pure Evil to be killed by another Pure Evil Villain.
