Well, you may have time to commit suicide. So why don't you die already?? SEE YOU! I LOVE YOU EVERYBODY...!!!
~ Jan's message to Integra and her meeting room.

Jan Valentine is a supporting antagonist in the Hellsing 2001 anime. He is a vampire like his older brother Luke, and attacked Millenium mansion in order to kill Intergra and her allies.

In the Japanese dub, he was voiced by Kazuya Nakai in the original anime, and Wataru Takagi in remake. In the English dub, he was voiced by Josh Phillips.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

In General[]

  • Despite his positive relationship with his brother Luke, there is no evidence that he cares about him.
  • He has no justification for his actions, other than basic sadism and the desire to cause chaos and destruction.
  • Lives for nothing more than pure destruction, carnage, warfare and death.
  • Unlike his manga and OVA versions, he is given more characterization that makes him be taken much more seriously.

Hellsing 2001[]

  • He and his brother moonlight as club owners, using the business card to lure rival gangsters and cops to kill them, believing they are trying to eradicate their criminal enterprise.
  • Threw the body of an MI-5 agent into the river with a map shoved in his mouth and a flagpole with the Union Jack impaled on his body.
  • Uses one of his vampires just to drink her blood.
  • He and his brother kidnap numerous civilians to turn them into his ghoul army.
  • Lures the Hellsing Squad into a building using one of his vampires as bait, only to blow up it where the Hellsing Squad was located.
  • Together with his brother and his ghoul army, he attacks the Hellsing complex, killing almost three-quarters of all Hellsing members and turning them into ghouls.
    • This leads to the fact that out of Hellsing's 86 men, only 12 survived, of which eight survived only because they were not at headquarters that day. Thus, the only four survivors of the Valentine brothers' raid were Integra, Walter, Alucard and Seras. All this makes Ian and Luke directly responsible for the huge losses in the Hellsing organization.
  • Held Commender Fargason at gunpoint and sadistically taunted Hellsing through a teleprompter, telling them who the Valentine brothers were, as well as telling them that their ghouls were feasting on Hellsing's people, as well as numerous threats, including mockingly ordering them to go and commit suicide.
  • He sets the Hellsing members he turned into ghouls against Walter and Seras.
  • Activates the FREAK chip, self-immolating. Although he did this to avoid revealing information to Integra, there is absolutely no evidence that Ian did this out of any noble reasons or loyalty to Incognito, committing self-immolation simply to spite Integra.

Trivia[]

  • He and Incognito are the only Hellsing 2001 anime characters to be Pure Evil.
  • His manga and OVA version cannot count for failing the heinous standard, since he is just another simple pawn of The Major and lacks the additional crimes to stand out among the other Millenium members. It's also very likely that had he kept the same crimes that 2001 anime gives him in the OVA, he most likely would have qualified as a Pure Evil, even outdoing Zorin Blitz in her niche of villainy.
