~ Rippner threatening Lisa after knocking out her dad. |
Jackson Rippner is the main antagonist of the 2005 psychological thriller film Red Eye.
He is a terrorist leader and assassin who is hired to eliminate an US Senator who is exposing his clients. To do so, Rippner arranges to blow him up along with his wife and children to send a message, so he stalks the hotel manager Lisa Reisert for weeks until he ends up in the same red eye flight as her, blackmailing her to change the Senator's room by threatening to have his associate kill Lisa's retired father.
He was portrayed by Cillian Murphy, who also played Scarecrow in The Dark Knight Trilogy.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- It is heavily implied that he killed his own parents when he was young, as he joked he did it to Lisa before revealing his true colors and later said to Lisa that he never lied to her.
- He took a job as a "manager", who helped other terrorists in government overthrows and high-profile assassinations.
- After being hired to help assassinate Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Charles Keefe and his family, he stalked Lisa Reisert, the manager of the hotel Keefe is staying at, for 8 weeks just so they could sit next to each other on a flight, where he forced Lisa to change Keefe's room so his employers can blow up the section Keefe's new room is in even though it would kill any surrounding hotel guests, threatening to kill her dad if she refused to.
- He repeatedly physically and psychologically abused Lisa throughout the entire flight, such as knocking her unconscious for half an hour, strangling her in the lavatory while slamming her against the bathroom walls, and constantly reminding her about his threat to kill her father if she fails to change Keefe's room.
- When Lisa made it back home after she stopped Keefe's assassination and damaged Jackson's windpipe, he tried to kill Lisa, planning to make her dad watch before killing him.
- He didn't care for his hitman, as his first reaction to his death was to search his body for anything he could use to kill Lisa.
- While he made a promise to Lisa to not kill her father if she changed Keefe's room, it was pragmatic so she will have a reason to change the room, and he betrayed this promise at the end of the movie by trying to kill him while not knowing if Lisa stopped Keefe's assassination.
