Jack is the overarching antagonist of the 2021 psychological horror film Last Night in Soho.
He was a talent agent in the 1960s who took Sandie under his wing as her manager. Although he presented himself as caring at first his abusive and cruel nature became apparent quickly and his actions ultimately led Sandie into becoming a serial killer who would vow to end the lives of every man who mistreated her starting with Jack. Death didn't stop Jack however as his ghost became the leader of the spirits belonging to Sandie's victims and he decided to bring about revenge upon her by haunting her new lodger Eloise Turner.
He was portrayed by Matt Smith, who also voiced Skynet in Terminator Genisys and portrayed Patrick Bateman in the West End musical adaptation of American Psycho.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Extorting various young women who were aspiring singers before pimping them out to his many business associates.
- Using his superficially charming nature to lure Sandie into his employ before subjecting her to the same treatment as all of the other women in his employment.
- Abusing Sandie both physically and emotionally several times on screen, culminating in his attempt to murder her, though this attempt was thwarted when Sandie ended up fighting back, stabbing him to death.
- His cruel actions turned Sandie into a serial killer who as retribution for the abuse she faced killed many of the men who had taken advantage of her, inadvertently turning them all into vengeful spirits led by Jack. He had little care for his fellow victims, only desiring vengeance against Sandie above all else.
- In an attempt to get to Sandie, Jack viciously haunts Eloise Turner with the other ghosts and causes her great mental distress, at one point even managing to physically harm her by punching her to the ground. He also traumatises her by showing her a vision of himself killing Sandie.
- His constant hallucinations also nearly caused the death of Eloise's classmate and bully Jocasta as Eloise almost stabbed her in the face when she mistook her for a ghost.
- When he finally does get Sandie to see him physically he begins berating her furiously while the other ghosts cower behind him in fear before slapping her in the face and then vanishing.
Trivia[]
