Rangers. You must act swiftly. The planet is in grave danger. 6000 years ago, a morphological being known as Ivan Ooze ruled the world with a reign of unparalleled terror. He was on the verge of completing construction of his ultimate weapon; the Ecto-Morphicon Titans. Twin machines capable of enslaving the entire universe! A group of young warriors, like yourselves, lured him into a Hyperlock Chamber and sealed him deep underground. But now the chamber has been accidentally uncovered. You must return it to the depths before it is opened and Ivan is released. Use extreme caution Rangers. You are dealing with an evil here that is beyond all imagination.
~ Zordon regarding Ivan Ooze.
Hah! Oh, the things that I have missed! The Black Plague. The Spanish Inquisition. The Brady Bunch reunion. BEH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! AH HA HA HA HA HA HA! EH HEE HA HA HA HA! EH HEH HA HA HA HA HA HA! AH HA HA HA HA HA!
~ Ivan Ooze's most famous quote as he demolished the Command Center.

Ivan Ooze is the main antagonist of the 1995 film, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie. He is the cruel, alien sorcerer and tyrant that once ruled the universe before he was sealed away and upon being freed by Rita and Zedd thousands of years later, he resumes his plot to take over the universe and get his revenge on Zordon.

He was portrayed by Paul Freeman.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Thousands of years ago, he was said to have ruled the entire universe with "unparalleled terror" prior to being sealed inside the Hyperlock Chamber.
    • According to the Sega Genesis tie-in, Ivan rid entire planets of their adult population, then brainwashed the young to follow in his evil path before he was locked away.
  • Upon being freed, he had his Oozemen fight the Power Rangers as a distraction to infiltrate the Command Center.
  • He circuit-fried Alpha 5 for punching him in the chest, even though it didn't do much to faze him.
  • He destroyed the Command Center and drove Zordon to the verge of death, temporarily killing him.
  • He betrayed Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd as he trapped them in a snow globe, even threatening to do the same to Goldar and Mordant unless they served him with loyalty.
  • He sent his Tengu Warriors to kill the Power Rangers and prevent them from regaining their Ranger forms, only failing when Dulcea stopped them. When they returned later after failing to kill the Rangers, Ivan kills them off by electrocuting them for failure.
  • He intended to use his Ecto-Morphicons, Hornitor and Scorpitor, twin insect-like robots to wreak havoc on the universe and enslave all life within his grasp. It's also heavily implied Ivan's done this before prior to being sealed away.
  • He manipulated every kid in Angel Grove to buy his Ooze in order to brainwash their parents and the adults of Angel Grove, hundreds of them, into finding parts of his Ecto-Morphicons buried within a construction site.
  • After completing his Ecto-Morphicons, he ordered the brainwashed adults to "leap to their doom", which is to commit suicide by falling off into a pit from the construction site simply because he got sick of their "ugly faces and dull personalities".
  • He sent his Ecto-Morphicons to raze up the city of Angel Grove, endangering the populace. Had the civilians not evacuated at that time, there surely could've been casualties.
  • He threatened to kill Goldar the next time he touched him.
  • He toyed with Kimberly, the Pink Ranger, by messing with her Crane Zord for fun before letting her go off, intending to deal with her later.
  • He possessed his last remaining Ecto-Morphicon, Hornitor, to use as a giant vessel to finish off the Rangers. It's also heavily implied that the Ecto-Morphicons are somewhat semi-sapient, evidenced by Hornitor looking back at its master while whimpering and somewhat expressed shock when Ivan possessed it.
  • He tried to destroy the Power Rangers himself with the intention of destroying their Ninja MegaZord, "zord by zord".
  • Although Ivan has an overall hammy performance and has comedic moments, such as saying he missed the Brady Bunch reunion and making one of his slaves dance for entertainment, it doesn't detract later on how serious his actions were, with most of these moments emphasizing the pretentious megalomaniac he is.
  • While seemingly caring about his Ecto-Morphicons, calling one of them his "beautiful creations", it's more of Ivan losing one of the necessary tools to his plot and wasn't above possessing the last of his own creations.
  • Because the film has no connections with the mainstream continuity of the franchise, Ivan sets the standards of the film, as even though most of his villainy from the past is offscreen, he passed the baseline with his order of having brainwashed adults to commit suicide and temporarily killing Zordon.

Trivia[]

  • He is one of the two Power Rangers Pure Evils to be from a movie, alongside Rita Repulsa.
