Idol Rabier is a major antagonist in the Rising of the Shield Hero series, appearing as a minor antagonist of Volume 6 and the main antagonist of Volume 23.

He is a former nobleman and Raphtalia's previous abusive owner. He is also responsible for the death of her best friend Rifana.

After his supposide death, it is revealed that he is still alive and is currently a criminal commiting crimes against both demi-humanity and humanity, while also attempting to take over Melromarc as its dictator.

He was voiced by Taisuke Nishimura in Japanese and Tom Fahn in English.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?

• He's racist towards demi-humans and thinks they are only used to be tortured and starved.
• Tortured many demi-humans including Raphtalia and Rifana.
• Sadistically took pleasure in beating and raping children after he starved and tortured them.
• Took Melty hostage and planned to have her killed and frame Naofumi for her murder.
• Cowardly begged Raphtalia for mercy till she decided to spare him, and he tries to kill her afterwards till he fails and falls out a window.
• Releases a Tyrant Dragon Rex to kill Naofumi and his party till it backfires and he gets seemingly killed instead.

Trivia

• Idol is considered the overarching antagonist of Raphtalia's character arc as he was responsible for her best friend's death and the trauma, she endured during her time in slavery till she was saved by Naofumi.
• Along with Medea Pideth Machina, he is one of the two only The Rising of the Shield Hero Pure Evils.
