| ~ Hunter J threatening Ash. |
Pokémon Hunter J is a major antagonist in the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl anime. She is a ruthless and greedy Pokemon hunter who will do anything, from abandoning her henchmen to killing, to get Pokemon to sell on the black market.
She is voiced by Takako Honda in Japanese, and by Sonny Dey in English.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- She hunts Pokémon, turning them into immobile statues so she can sell them on the black market. In some cases, she even abducts trained Pokémon right off their trainers' hands, showing no care over how the trainer might feel.
- As shown specifically in Riolu’s interaction with her, J is also fully aware that all Pokémon are sapient, not only proving her complete callousness but also adding to her cruel methods.
- She evokes “even evil has standards” from Team Rocket, who are the main villains. And the threat she poses have made Ash and his friends work together with them to stop her.
- Unlike Team Rocket, who are often portrayed as comical and incompetent, she is taken dead seriously and is extremely competent at being evil.
- She doesn't care about her clients at all, as she bails on any client who cancels a deal, even gladly abandoning one to the police the moment she's paid for her “services.” The same goes for her minions, who are terrified of her.
- In "Mutiny in the Bounty"
- She steals Melodi's Gardevoir.
- She steals Pikachu.
- She kidnaps Meowth, despite him clearly being sentient.
- She steals an Absol.
- She jettisons part of her own ship at a great height in order to escape, nearly killing Ash, Team Rocket, and several of her loyal henchmen who are still aboard. When it's pointed out that her own men are in there, she coldly says she doesn't care.
- She tries to steal a group of Shieldon in "Ill-Will Hunting!"
- In "Pokémon Ranger and the Kidnapped Riolu,"
- She attempts to steal a Riolu with Aura Sphere for her client.
- She attempts to kill Ash several times, as well as anyone else in her way. She also says that she wants to punish Ash personally for interfering with her, and seems to take pleasure in trying to kill him.
- In one example, she sets a forest ablaze with her Salamence for the purpose of killing Ash, proving that she doesn't care about the Pokémon living there.
- She then has her Drapion squeeze him tightly.
- Finally, she ejects him from her ship at a great height.
- After getting her money, she had no intention of helping her client when she leaves them to be defeated and arrested, shown she never truly cares about any of her clients.
- She awakens Regigigas in order to capture it in "Pillars of Friendship" and shows no remorse when it spirals out of control and threatens to destroy a nearby town, nor the fact that it could have killed a lot of innocent people. When attempting to petrify Regigigas, she turns Brandon, a human, to stone when he intercepts the beam and leaves him petrified. Hearing her clients has broke her deal, she gets furious and calls them fools.
- She agrees to capture the Lake Trio for Cyrus in "Unlocking the Red Chain of Events!" and fires the Galactic Bomb at Lake Valor to drive them out and then petrify all three of them.
- By doing this, she assisted Team Galactic's plans for universal omnicide, and she may have even been aware of their intentions as they had openly stated in prior episodes that they would destroy the world, but she didn't care and was only in it for the money.
