“ | Ah, my rosy-cheeked new employees. I'm not going to lie we're all here to make a buck. But it's the happiness of my people that gets me up each morning. My father, rest his soul, was a diamond miner. Got up at the crack of dawn each morning, smoked a cigarette and down into the earth he went. For that wonderful, wonderful man, the company was God. I bring that same reverence to my humble business here. And I expect all of you to do the same. Now there are only three company rules you have to follow. First, protect my product. You can f-ck them boys, but be gentle. Second, kill any native on sight. And, finally, all profits go to me. I'm an understanding boss, but if you break one of these rules... I roast you in the furnace until your skin crackles like chicken. Right enough talk. Those savages want to destroy my life's work. My pride and joy. Show them we mean business. | „ |

~ Hoyt to Jason (a.k.a. "Foster"). |
Hoyt Volker is the main antagonist of the 2012 video game Far Cry 3. He runs the biggest slave trading system in the Southern Pacific, and he is the tyrant of the South Island of the Rook Islands. Compared to Vaas, Hoyt is a "demon". He is also the leader of the Privateers.
He was voiced by Steve Cumyn.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Although Hoyt had an abusive father who he eventually killed and played a part in his evil, it does nothing to empathize his actions as an adult since he now seeks to outdo him in terms of heinousness.
- He corrupted Vaas into the utter lunatic he is today with money and drugs, letting him and his pirates have their way with the Rook Islands' natives so he could have control over them.
- This isn't the only thing that contributed to Vaas' insanity, however, as he also verbally abused Vaas when he couldn't get him what he wanted in return. This is shown when Hoyt berated Vaas, stating that he didn't care about his family, even going so far as to tell him it is "by my grace that your head isn't impaled on the antenna of my car", in his exact words.
- According to the official Ubisoft website, he killed his former boss in front of his family.
- He runs a trafficking ring for both drugs and humans, holding foreign newcomers for ransom and even endorsing rapes.
- Despite saying he would give the parents their family back if they paid the ransom, Hoyt would always just force them into slavery regardless if they paid or not.
- He's implied to be a poacher, describing hunting as "the noblest of professions".
- He forces three native sympathizers at gunpoint to run across a minefield, after which they'll be met with pirates on the other side that will shoot them down. Only one of them survived the ordeal thanks to Jason.
- He and his men massacred the Beras town simply just for allying themselves with the Rakyat tribe.
- To make an example to his new recruits, Hoyt burns one of his own men alive as punishment for insubordination.
- He blows up a boat containing hostages while listening to "Ride of the Valkyries".
- He orders Jason to torture Riley, knowing from the start that the two were brothers.
- He kills Sam and then cuts off Jason's left ring finger in a poker game, engaging the latter in a knifefight before dying himself.
