The Hornet stings, bitch!
~ Hornet trying to kill Ladybug with a syringe with snake venom.

The Hornet is one of two overarching antagonists (alongside Carver) of the 2022 action comedy film Bullet Train, based on Kōtarō Isaka's 2010 dark comedic thriller novel Maria Beetle.

She is a professional assassin known for her usage of a snake venom, hired by the White Death to infiltrate into a bullet train, kill his son and steal his briefcase. Hornet was also responsible for the death of Lobo's wife and, indirectly, White Death's, leading the first to get on the train to find her and the second to gather all those involved so that they could kill each other.

She was portrayed by Zazie Beetz.

What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]

  • Painfully kills all of her victims in a gruesome and horrific way via injecting them with a modified boomslang venom, which causes her targets to slowly bleed from the inside out, vomit and die while bleeding from their eyes.
  • Laced the wedding cake of the Wolf's wedding with the woman he loved with her boomslang venom under the disguise of a pastry chef in an attempt to kill El Saguano, the leader of the cartel the Wolf had been part of but was planning to retire from, leading all the guests (which were likely the relatives and friends of the couple) and the bride to agonizingly die, traumatizing the Wolf, who hadn't eaten the cake, indirectly making him turn to crime once more and ruining his chances of leaving his criminal past behind. It would also cause the Wolf to almost kill Ladybug, thinking he was her.
  • Had a famous surgeon killed with her boomslang venom for unspecified reasons, leading the surgeon to die at work, which prevented him from saving the life of the Yakuza crime lord White Death's wife, whose death led her husband to scheme how to kill all those involved in his wife's death, putting into motion the events of the film.
  • It's likely she murdered the performer of the bullet train's Momonga mascot to use the costume for her mission.
  • Murders the addicted son of the White Death under his father's orders by playfully distracting him before fatally injecting him with her venom. Even if the Son was a jerk, he didn't do anything to deserve to be killed and less in such way.
  • Savagely knocks out a waitress to disguise with her attire and continue with her mission, possibly even killing her.
  • Tries to murder Ladybug with her boomslang venom, actually succeeding at doing so, but Ladybug injects her back and ultimately saves himself by injecting himself with the sole antidote dose the Hornet kept for herself.
  • Despite how comical or emotional the rest of the film's deaths are, the Hornet's wasn't played for laughs or sympathy, but as sweet karma considering that she died the same cruel way she murdered all her victims.
  • Although she does do as her clients say, she only does so because she gets to kill others and shows herself to kill anyone, regardless of involvement.
  • Unlike the rest of the film's characters, the Hornet is taken seriously for the most time, lacks any redeeming qualities and has far less resources than the White Death or the Prince, plus her killing methods are unique enough to allow her to stand out.
