Holda is the main antagonist of the 2020 dark fantasy horror film Gretel and Hansel directed by Oz Perkins and released under Orion Pictures. She is the film's version of the The Witch from the original Hansel and Gretel fairy tale written by the Brothers Grimm.
She was portrayed by Alice Krige in her elderly form, and Jessica De Gouw in her younger form.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- She ate her own children as she saw them as in the way of her gaining power.
- She disguised herself as an old woman and feigned kindness in order to lure children to her home so she can eat them in order to preserve her witchcraft.
- She states that she enjoys cannibalism more than anything.
- She feeds Gretel and Hansel (and most likely other children) human organs and body parts which she has turned into food using magic.
- She attempts to force Gretel to eat Hansel her brother and tries to tell her that Hansel is blocking her true potential as a way to entice her to commit cannibalism.
- She straps Gretel to a table in order for her to watch Hansel burn to death in a pit of fire.
- She hypnotizes Hansel into climbing into a pit of fire.
- While she did initially hate The Beautiful Child with the Pink Cap for killing her family, she later became a cannibal and ate children to gain power which throws away any redeeming quality.
Trivia[]
- Both Holda, Agnes, Magdalena, and The Witch from Hansel and Gretel are Pure Evil.
