The bite has calmed your turmoil within you. The girl clouded your mind, poisoned your exalted bloodline. Defiled your majesty within human frality. We will cleanse you, wipe all memory of the girl from your thoughts, purify your body, and prepare you for your prophesied destiny. Only through the gods' benevolent purge are we made pure. When only our blood flows through the child's veins, his consecration will be complete, and he will lead us as the Kaiju Messiah!
~ The High Priestess beginning the ceremonial ritual dedicated to the Kaiju Messiah.
Conceived by the gods, born of the earth, and now purified by the Sisterhood, our Messiah will rise anew to lead all Kaiju in triumph!
~ The High Priestess nearly completing the ritual.
Messiah, fear not. Your disciples have liberated you once more. Such crimes against the new order dictate the most severe of punishments.
~ The High Priestess' final words as she has her heart pierced and crushed by Boy.

The High Priestess is one of the main antagonists in the 2021 Japanese-American streaming series, Pacific Rim: The Black, based on the Pacific Rim film franchise.

She is the leader of a fanatical cult known as the Sisters of the Kaiju, a female-only group that worships the Kaiju and believed that they were "dark angels" that were tasked with eliminating humanity for their sins, as well as seeing the Jaegers as "false idols" and blasphemy to the ones they worshipped. She believed that the Boy was their messiah and tried to use him to eradicate all of humanity.

She is voiced by Leilani Jones.

What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]

  • She wishes to seek out the entire annihilation of humanity on behalf of her "Gods" (the Precursors), and started out having her cultists pursuit their ideologies globally that resulted in several riots.
  • She and the Sisters are known for abducting men and women into their territory or near their presence. For the men, they are to be ritualistically sacrificed, while the women are painfully and horrifically brainwashed through the High Priestess' abilities into becoming converted members of the Sisters. These horrible effects involved their skin decaying, their eyes turned blue, and at worst, having their humanity completely erased by her influence.
    • She could also care less about those she brainwashed, as she shows zero concern for their deaths during the missile strike by Sydney Base.
  • She is heavily implied to be involved with the Uprising Wars, as she had dozens of Rippers scattered across destroyed cities to hunt down surviving victims.
    • It is also heavily indicated that with the telepathic ability to summon or control Kaiju on her demands, she's involved with past Kaiju attacks in Australia that reduced the current state into becoming a desolated wasteland and likely killing millions.
  • She and the Sisters raided sanctions and parts of Australia, killing up to hundreds to tens of thousands of innocent people, including campsites and hideouts belonging to the Bogan, which Mei had traumatic experiences of seeing her comrades die at their hands.
    • After these raids, there lies a horrific and exact amount of human skulls, including those from previous sacrifices, by thousands can be seen lying from inside the Sisters' lair and outside the entrance being used to carve a pathway that symbolizes humanity's downfall and the Kaiju's uprise.
  • It is implied she summoned Kaiju to track down and destroy Jaegers who cross into their territory, all while killing the pilots. To which there are dozens of scrapped and destroyed Jaeger parts and corpses lying outside the entrance.
  • She would have her Sisters rustle and capture dozens of Kaiju from Never Never Valley, implied to be hording enough to gather a massive army and there are several water-based Kaiju lying around a water pit in their territory's base.
  • She abducted and brainwashed Brina Travis into becoming a Sister follower in her cult and likely ordered her into capturing Boy, a Kaiju-Human hybrid.
    • Even after she was rescued by Shane from the priestess' influence, there are still some lingering and psychological effects as Brina is still traumatized by the horrible experiences she felt under her control and the priestess is still trying to get hold of her once more.
  • Upon capturing Boy, she attempted to transform him into the "Messiah" by transfusing her and her followers' blood onto him to telepathically brainwash him into their bidding and shape him into how she sees fit, all for the sake of having him lead the Kaiju into annihilating all of humanity.
  • Psychologically and horrifically brainwashed Brina once more into her control, forcing her to sell out her children and Mei's infiltration and ordered her to kill her own children with a golden dagger. Even when she manages to snap out of the brainwashing, Brina ended up wounding her own son, Taylor.
  • Sent and unleashed several Rippers after the Taylor siblings, Brina, and Mei when the latter retrieved back Boy. This would lead to Brina buying her children time to escape at the cost of being severely wounded from the Ripper's attacks, up to the point it was too late to have her treated sooner than expected. Making the High Priestess indirectly responsible for Brina's death.
  • She and the Sisters would recite chants that brainwashed and forced Boy into becoming his Kaiju form in an attempt to "purify" him of memories of Hayley Travis, forcibly ordering him to kill his family-figure.
  • When Apex, a sentient Kaiju-Jaeger hybrid, intervened and tried to make Boy remember, the priestess ordered him to attack and curbstomp Apex to death. Even after Boy was freed from her influence, Apex succumbs to the damages it took in exchange of Boy remembering who he is, causing him to grieve in remorse for killing its own kindred.
  • Sent numerous Kaiju after the Travis siblings and Mei to retrieve back Boy. When it failed, she summoned Breacher, a highly-leveled Kaiju, to kill them off and attack the Sydney Base nearby.
  • When confronted by Mei, she would sadistically taunt her over leaving her allies to die when she killed them and took the women into her cult just to let her guard down in order to retrieve Boy.
  • Tries to convince Boy that she and the Sisters are on his side in an attempt to convert him back into the "Messiah", showing very little remorse for everything she's done to him and his family-figure up to the point he's had enough of her cruelty and kills her for good.
  • Despite worshipping the Precursors and the Kaiju, her loyalty is anything but mere fanatical behavior since nothing indicates she's entirely dedicated to her ideology of them or serving the Precursors on their behalf. Not to mention she's a hypocrite, as she shows zero concern for the numerous deaths of Rippers and summoned Kaiju that died at the hands of Atlas Destroyer, likely treating them as expendable to her cause.
  • While her origins are enigmatically vague, nothing indicates she lacks Moral Agency due to being a humanoid with Kaiju-like features. As she is shown to be sadistic over tormenting Mei and is intellectual, being able to sense intruders and Brina through her telepathy.
  • Her death at Boy's hands, while brutal due to having her heart pierced and crushed by him, is ultimately played well-deserved for forcibly brainwashing him into nearly killing her family-figure and killing Apex. As well as for those she's brainwashed and killed to appease the Precursors.

Trivia[]

  • The High Priestess is, so far, the only Pure Evil in the Pacific Rim franchise.
