Hexxus is the main antagonist of the 1992 animated fantasy musical film FernGully: The Last Rainforest, which is based on the book of the same name by Diana Young.
He is the spirit of destruction and pollution with the sole desire to destroy FernGully as revenge against the fairies and spread destruction across the world, killing anyone and anything in his way.
He was voiced by Tim Curry, who also played It in the 1990s miniseries of the same name, Taurus Bulba in Darkwing Duck, Skullmaster in Mighty Max, Slagar the Cruel in Redwall, Dr. Neugog in Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot, Von Talon in Valiant, Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Joseph Chadwick in the Ben 10 franchise, Anatoly Cherdenko in Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3, and Nihilus in The Story Keepers.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- His overall goal was to pollute and destroy all life on Earth, simply because he enjoyed it.
- He spread destruction across the world by causing the eruption of Mt. Warning, which resulted in the deaths of countless sentient beings.
- After accidentally being freed from his prison and realizing that humans freed him using the "Leveler", he started absorbing the machine's energy before manipulating the lumberjacks into using it to spread more pollution.
- Despite seemingly admiring humans and referring to them as "wonderful and helpful", he fully intended on killing them all as well.
- His manipulations resulted in much of the rainforest being destroyed.
- After arriving at FernGully, he prepared to destroy it and kill all of the fairies living there as revenge for them imprisoning him.
- While he had comedic moments, especially during his "Toxic Love" song, they only showed how sadistic he was rather than detracting from his villainy.
- One of the line during Toxic Love says I see the world and all the creatures in it, I suck 'em dry and spit 'em out like spinach" implied he has eaten animals and spits out their bones.
- Although he seems to be made out of evil, nothing indicates that he has moral agency issues as he can pretend to be affable to the humans when trying to deforest Ferngully, showing that he is capable of good, but chooses not to do so.

- Hexxus was one of the inspirations behind Jack Gleeson's portrayal of Joffrey Baratheon.
- Fans theorized Hexxus was the one sent the meteor to wipe out the dinosaurs out of extinction and caused the Permian Mass Extinction,if it was confirmed to be true,it would make Hexxus even worse.
