Henry Lawson is a major antagonist in the Mass Effect trilogy, serving as the main antagonist of Miranda's loyalty story in Mass Effect 2 and a major antagonist in Mass Effect 3. He is the father of Miranda Lawson, and her genetic twin, Oriana Lawson. He works with Cerberus and answers directly to the Illusive Man. He runs Sanctuary on the planet Horizon during the war with the Reapers, luring in civilians to use as test subjects to find out Reaper indoctrination works and to find a way to control the Reapers. He serves as Miranda and Oriana's archenemy.
He was voiced by Alan Dale.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Before the events of the franchise, Henry would genetically create children so they could continue his legacy, but due to the fact that they were unable to be like what he wanted, he would kill them.
- He gave Miranda barely any friends as a child, always making sure she was perfect in every way, making her socially distant from everyone. This made Miranda take her younger sister, Oriana, from him to make sure Oriana would have a normal life.
- He ordered an Eclipse mercenary group to kidnap Oriana, this would result in their leader, Captain Enyala, killing one of Miranda's friends named Niket.
- He made a place called Sanctuary on the planet Horizon, where he tricked millions of people to believe it was a safe haven away from the war against the Reapers and turned them into husks.
- It's even shown in a message that 60% of the children that were in Sanctuary were turned into husks, meaning he killed at least thousands of children.
- He kidnapped Oriana and used her as a hostage to make Shepard and Miranda (if she survived the suicide mission in Mass Effect 2) to allow him to leave Sanctuary without any problems.
- Unlike most villains in the franchise, who either have redeeming qualities (the Illusive Man, who has a tragic backstory, when he was in the first contact war, he lost his friends like Eve Core, who he loved, and Ben Hislop who later became indoctrinated by a reaper artifact, which he later became an Extremist who founded Cerberus.), have well intentional goals (the Reapers, who believe that synthetics should allow to evolve, and must surpass their organic creators.), or are simply not heinous enough (the Shadow Broker), Henry has no redeeming qualities or good motivations for his actions, and although he does say that he could save countless lives by learning how to control the Reapers, not only does his actions are far too heinous for it to be justified, but he also is only doing it so he could be seen as humanity's savior, making his goals completely selfish.
- Although he's not as heinous as the Reapers or the Catalyst, he has less resources due to them being very powerful and immortal beings with control over millions of servants, despite being one of the wealthiest people in the galaxy.
