Hakudōshi is a major antagonist in the manga/anime series Inuyasha. He is the eighth incarnation of Naraku, and is one of the most sadistic and cruel incarnations Naraku has ever had.
Hakudōshi was originally a part of the Infant, the seventh incarnation of Naraku, but was later created by a powerful priest. Ever since his birth, Hakudōshi began following his master's orders while secretly plotting to betray and kill him, alongside the Infant.
He was voiced by Ai Kobayashi in Japanese and Chiara Zanni in English, both voice The Infant in the same series.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He decapitated several demons in order to read their minds to find a path to the afterlife in order for Naraku to find the final Shikon Jewel Shard. This causes their headless bodies to rampage across the land and attack several villages.
- Similar to Naraku, he abuses Kagura frequently, mainly for his sadistic pleasure, and often tries to get her killed. For example:
- Tries to send Kagura into the Gate to the Next World, almost killing her.
- Aids Princess Abi in slaughtering humans with her blood-sucking birds to further Naraku's schemes.
- When Naraku learned of Kikyo's survival, he unleashed a never-ending swarm of demon rats, decimating several villages and killing hundreds to lure her out. Furthermore, he warns Inuyasha that if Kikyo continues to hide, similar attacks will occur, with some mainly being for his sadistic enjoyment.
- When he was confronted for his vile crime of unleashing the rats, he simply questions why the heroes are upset about it, showcasing his callous regard towards life.
- In order to create the armor Moryomaru for the Infant, he slaughters hundreds of demons and experiments on them to create the living armor. The failed subjects are cast aside and end up rampaging across the land, causing more severe destruction on countless villages.
- He attempts to manipulate Kagura into helping him and the Infant betray Naraku by releasing Goryōmaru, while also planning to have her killed.
- After his betrayal is revealed and Naraku abandons him to perish, he makes one final attempt to murder Kagura out of spite before Miroku stops him and kills him.
- While he and the Infant work together and appear to be genuinely fond of each other, there is no indication that they genuinely care for each other, as they only refer to each other as their "other half," showing that they only see each other as extensions of themselves. This is more evident when Hakudōshi states he is only loyal to himself, which suggests that he would've betrayed the Infant.
- Although he showed Entei, his demon horse companion, good treatment, it was only for pragmatic reasons, especially since he is shown to be unconcerned with his devoted companion's passing.
