Hades Izanami is the goddess of death and one of the main antagonists (alongside Yuuki Terumi and Relius Clover) of the BlazBlue franchise, appearing as the background antagonist of both Continuum Shift and Chronophantasma and one of the three primary antagonists (alongside Konoe A. Mercury and Yuuki Terumi) of Central Fiction. She’s the arch-nemesis of Noel Vermillion, Rachel Alucard, and Konoe A. Mercury.

She is one of the Drives of the Master Unit: Amaterasu, who uses Saya's body as her vessel. She is the Imperator of Novus Orbis Librarium and is the one who Hazama and Relius answer to. Her goal is to reduce everything to nothing to create a "World of Death".

In Chrono Phantasma, she is the final boss of the story mode and uses Take-Mikazuchi as her weapon while Izanami herself is an assist character. In Central Fiction, Izanami makes her debut as a playable character.

In Continuum Shift, she is voiced by Kanako Kondō. While in all of her other appearances, she is voiced by Yukana. In the English dubbed version, she is voiced by Kate Higgins.

What Makes Her Pure Evil?

• Brainwashed Tsubaki Yayoi with Ruby: Mind Eater to attack her friends against her will, including trying to have her kill Jin Kisaragi with her Sealed Weapon Izayoi's Immortal Breaker.
• Conspired with Relius Clover and Yuuki Terumi to bring about Armageddon, killing further billions.
• Rejuvenated and sicced Nu-13 on Ragna the Bloodedge, causing his Azure Grimoire go haywire and thus turning him into a Black Beast-like being, resulting in him mortally wounding Jin Kisaragi and injuring Noel Vermillion. The former's injuries were such that not even Celica’s healing magic was enough to save him and it leads to Jin doing that deal with Trinity to repair his body but at the cost of his ability to fight afterwards but it's heavily-implied he won't he long for this world after that.
• Betrayed Relius and Terumi after bringing about Armageddon.
• Tried to bring a moon-sized explosion that would have destroyed the Earth.
• When cornerd by Noel Vermillion, Noel tries to absorb Izanami into herself, only for Izanami to reverse the process and absorb Noel into herself, which would have killed Noel had it not been for Ragna intervening.
• Tried to kill Ragna the Bloodedge.

Trivia

• She, Yuuki Terumi and Relius Clover are the only BlazBlue characters to be Pure Evil.
