The Great Guidance, also called the Great One, is the main antagonist of the 1953 B-movie Robot Monster. He is the supreme leader of the Ro-Men and the one who gave Ro-Man XJ-2 the mission to exterminate humanity.
He was portrayed by the late George Barrows and voiced by the late John Brown.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Judging by how he interacts with Ro-Man XJ-2, he very likely is far from a benevolent ruler to his people since he continuously mistreats XJ-2 and doesn't want him to think for himself or feel emotions.
- After discovering humans' existence, the Great Guidance sent Ro-Man XJ-2 to exterminate them because he deemed them a threat.
- Judging by what XJ-2 says, the Great Guidance and the other Ro-Men found amusement in watching humans getting exterminated.
- He directly destroyed the rocket piloted by Jason and McCloud alongside a space platform where multiple human survivors were hiding.
- He kills XJ-2 after the latter refuses to kill Alice before destroying the entire planet Earth out of wrath.
- While he's the member of an evil alien species, XJ-2 falling in love with Alice and refusing to kill her proves Ro-Men can be good, so he has a clear moral agency.
- While Robot Monster is a B-movie, it takes itself seriously and its comedy is completely accidental and depends on the movie being poorly-made and badly-written.
