NOTE: This page is only about Granny Goodness' Post-Crisis incarnation, as her New 52 incarnation is not a Pure Evil, and thus only the Post-Crisis version of Granny Goodness' info should be put here.

Tell me, little worm -- do they regard you as someone strong, someone nasty, in your own world? This is not your world. This is where darkness, where cruelty and power, are all born. You aren't "nasty," little worm -- you're only human. We are gods. We don't aspire to cruelty, we are cruelty!
~ Granny to Amanda Waller.

Granny Goodness is a major antagonist from the DC franchise. She is a member of the extraterrestrial pantheon of gods known as the New Gods, a loyal follower of Darkseid and leader of the Female Furies. She is also the archenemy of both Mr. Miracle and Big Barda.

What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]

  • Although Goodness had a rough upbringing where Darkseid forced her to kill her pet dog Mercy, it doesn't give her any sympathy points because she's long past it now as an adult, especially since she shows no visible remorse after the fact.
  • She is the headmistress of several orphanages on Apokolips, where she subjects the planet's children (including literal babies) to years' worth of constant, torturous, even nightmarish physical and emotional abuse to mold them into mindless slaves with Stockholm syndrome who fight, kill and die for Darkseid. Countless children who were unfortunately unable to meet Granny's high standards either died in gladiator games, or got executed by Kanto while training.
    • Only one of Granny's countless victims was ever able to escape: Scott Free, who as an adult became the superhero Mr. Miracle.
  • In Orion's titular comic series, Granny marches hundreds if not thousands of slaves to their deaths into the fire pits of Apokolips, liquefying them into raw fuel.
  • At the end of Amazons Attack!, Granny is revealed to have masterminded the genocidal war between Themyscira and the U.S.A., starting at Washington, D.C.
  • Before her final defeat in Final Crisis, Granny possesses Alpha Lantern Kraken, frames Hal Jordan for conspiracy against the Green Lantern Corps, and tries to destroy Oa.

Trivia[]

  • In the New 52's continuity, Goodness is written to be more of a sympathetic character who as an adult still feels genuine remorse for killing her pet dog Mercy; she also gets raped by Darkseid at one point. Therefore, only her Post-Crisis counterpart is Pure Evil due to long subverting whatever tragic past she once had.
  • This version, alongside her DCAU and Young Justice counterparts, are the only versions of Granny Goodness to be Pure Evil.
