- Description in Dragon Quest IX

Grandmaster Nimzo otherwise referred to as Mildrath, Mirudodraas in Japanese, and known as the Demon lord of Nadiria serves as the main antagonist and final boss of Dragon Quest V, the fifth installment of the Dragon Quest series. He is the mastermind behind all of the mis happenings within the game, as well as Bishop Ladja, Kon the Knight, Slon the Rook, Queen Ferez, and King Koral’s master. He is also the true conceiver of the Order of Zugzwang and everything his other minor or major minions have done before the game started.

Biography[]

The history here is quite long. Use the Villains Wiki for that information or you may go to Nimzo - Dragon Quest Wiki (dragon-quest.org), Nimzo | Dragon Quest Wiki | Fandom, etc...

Appearances[]

Nimzo initially appears to be an elderly, green-skinned humanoid, though this is merely a ruse to hide his true, grotesque form: a bloated, red daemon with spear-like fangs, massive mottled and wrinkled wings, four arms, and sharp spikes all over his body, including a spiked tail.

Biography[]

This section is too long. Visit here for more details: Grandmaster Nimzo's Synopsis on the Villains Wiki.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • According to one of the soldiers who knew about Nimzo and a book in Lofty Peak called The Will of Our Leader, he is a deity born of "lowly disciples" implying he was born of poverty. The book also reveals he soon became the Monarch of Lofty Peak and was wiser than wisdom itself. However, he chose to use the Secret of Evolution and turned himself into a monster. The citizens there had tried, but failed, to take the evil out of him and "Even now, he waits, where no sun shall ever shine, for the Great one to arrive, the one true hero."

This means that Nimzo, before becoming a hideous monster had clearly possessed a moral agency and chose to become a monster, meaning it's his fault for causing all the deaths that Nimzo was included in those scenes.

  • Had ordered Bishop Ladja to kill Luca before the beginning of the game but ends up kidnapping Madelena due to Pankraz protecting the Luca.
  • Had Roundbeck children be fed by the monsters in Updaten Tower where the Haunted Housekeeper could feast on them.
  • Sank the floating fortress, Zenithia to a lake in the mortal realm after Luca receives the Golden Orb.
  • Captured Prince Harry and likely had Faux Dowager not only imprison Queen Dowager but also had the Faux Dawger impersonate as the real Queen of Coburg castle. Not to mention, Nimzo had the monsters guarding Prince Harry's cell to ambush anybody that tried to release him, but as a side note set Bishop Ladja to block the exist and nearly killed Luca, Harry, and even Saber who joined in on Pankraz's quest to rescue Prince Harry.
  • Even though Bishop Ladja had Slon the Rook and Kon the Knight beat Pankraz up and later burned him alive, Nimzo still holds responsibility for the death.
  • He had Bishop Ladja traded slaves with some of Nimzo's other minions to build a huge shrine in the past, and later did the same thing with Prince Harry and Luca to build Crocodilopolis. The slaves then were either killed or brainwashed to worship Nimzo as a god.
  • Every crime that the Order of Zugzwang has committed before the game started also falls under Grandmaster Nimzo's shoulders, too.
  • Ordered Bishop Ladja to get Kon and kidnap Bianca while having an Orc and Chimera Pawn hold Bianca hostage with Kon the knight.
  • Even though Bishop Ladja was the one who turned Luca and Bianca into stone, Nimzo holds responsibility for the kids unable to see their parents for a long time until the petrification spell Ladja had placed on the two had been removed.
  • He nearly succeeded in tricking Luca, Bianca and friends to joining the Order of Zugzwang by having Queen Ferez who guarded the entrance to Crocodilopolis to create an illusion of Madelena.
  • Likely ordered Bishop Ladja to kill King Koral due being no longer a use to him.
  • Due to Bishop Ladja's reckless actions, Nimzo is responsible since he didn't care to stop him from going into further evil actions.
  • While it is true that Bishop Ladja had killed Madelena, he still holds responsible for any type of abuse he has done to her, including the one where he demoted her to a slave.
  • Left Bishop Ladja to die when he pleaded to be saved regardless of if he deserved it.
  • When the heroes confront him, he mentions the quote "My servants have been working here and there but, there was no need for such foolishness to begin with. It was a waste of effort." Meaning they were nothing to him. He even revealed that he was originally going to kill Luca when he was a baby.
  • Despite Nimzo being a demon, he was once a human being, therefore possessed a moral agency and chose to use the Secret of Evolution on himself not knowing that it would make him kill numerous lives before the transformation was complete.

Trivia[]

He and Bishop Ladja are the only two pure evil villains within Dragon Quest V. He is one of the few, well-known antagonists in the Dragon Quest series.
