Ginis is the main antagonist of Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger. He is the Deathgalien's owner who oversees the Team Leaders directing their Players to attack Earth while he awards a prize to the winner of his Blood Game. As one of the most evil Deathgalien in Zyuohger, he loved playing with the lives of others.
He is voiced by Kazuhiko Inoue and his suit actors are Naoko Kamio and Hideaki Kusaka.
What Makes Him Pure Evil[]
- Despite the absurdity of decrying "For me, the most heinous insult... is compassion", he is still taken completely seriously.
- He came to being when thousands of Moebas (which end up being the Deathgalien grunts) formed a conglomerate. While he is a fusion of multiple creatures at once, he still has a full on moral agency enough to hate his origin, yet love himself (and him only) and develop a inferiority complex and sadistic personality, thereby preventing his dislike of how he originated to be an excuse or a genuine insecurity.
- He created the Deathgaliens for the sole purpose of satisfying his own sadistic amusement (as well as prove himself to be superior to any other lifeform) by challenging and destroying planets. The Blood Game is meant to cause as much destruction in the hopes of amusing him, therefore having the blood of billions on his hands.
- Of the planets he destroyed, ten of them are due to a creation of his called Gift. We even see how devastating it is in a flashback. The only reason he doesn't use Gift more times is because it is a one sided challenge, which keeps him from being entertained.
- Among the planets he destroyed is the homeworld of Team Leader Quval, which causes him to become a monster, siding with him only out of fear and to one day get revenge on him. While he ends up being Near Pure Evil at the time of his death, it's still a cruel move since there are still innocents on the planet and Quval wouldn't have much reason or resources if it wasn't for him.
- While he has no involvement in Azald's previous attack on Earth (and may have not existed at the time), he found him and made him a present day threat by having his sealed form be animated and loyal to him without his past memories. As such, he let Azald cause more destruction as a Team Leader.
- The origins of Naria and Jagged are unknown, but their actions are directly linked to him.
- He cares nothing about his subordinates beyond a means to entertain himself. At best, he is calm and soft spoken and acts polite and benevolent, yet clearly none of that is sincere. In fact, since he is amused by their acts, whether their plans succeed or fail means nothing to him since he himself wins either way. Only his amusement prevents him from being an openly horrible boss, thus making his servants nothing more than pawns.
- This is first shown when the Zyuohgers form and kill Jagged. Ginis is more impressed by their ability to challenge him rather than Jagged's death and orders the remaining two Team Leaders to compete against each other to see who can win the 100th Blood Game.
- Attacks Earth, which is his 100th planet in which the Blood Games take place.
- Is the source for this show's monster growing method: The Continue Medals. Reviving and enlarging his monsters give them the opportunity to cause even more destruction.
- In his first participation in the 100th Blood Game, he creates a barrier around the city, forcing the Zyuohgers to try and find the deactivation switch, or else everything or everyone in the city will be erased from existence. However, that was only a trick to manipulate them into releasing Gift once again. Gift overpowers them and nearly kills them
- He had Naria kidnap 3 Zyumans, as well as any human that looks like one (actually in full body costumes) to see which ones are real. The humans kidnapped would still be killed off regardless for knowing to much if not for Yamato.
- Succeeding with three of them, he hanged them (their dead, hung bodies being shown onscreen) while also kidnapping Misao Mondou for being similarly self loathing as he is in his eyes, and, through cold blooded torture, brainwashed him with the life force of the three Zyuman to create his own Zyuohger: Zyuoh The World, making him more than a match for the other Zyuohgers.
- He even had The World spare them just so he can taunt and traumatize them, which worked for a while.
- While Misao is eventually freed from his control, the after effects are clear as day, as he fears both him and the things he did when brainwashed under his control, not helping his already introverted personality.
- He allows the actions of fellow Pure Evil Bangray and Domidoll to commence, as their actions are interesting to him. He even tried recruiting the former to be another member of the Deathgaliens. While Bangray ultimately refuses, he still lets him be so he can use him in his plans.
- Enjoyed seeing Bangray's atrocities, including trying to break Yamato and even him fighting Quval, the latter being another example to show how little he cares for his minions.
- Tries capturing Cube Whale after Bangray finds it and has Naria use a new Gift model attack both Bangray and the Zyuohgers to get it, but really just needed it's data and has Naria evacuate the destruction of Custom Gift, but only so she can give him the robot's memory core.
- Personally foils Quval's betrayal, having known the whole time, by letting him and the Zyuohgers think they got him before absorbing Cube Whale's data to become Shin Ginis. He then proceeds to curb stomp them all with his newfound power, killing the memory copies (but two) Quval created while sparing him and the Zyuohgers, the latter just because killing them quickly wouldn't be much fun to him and the former because of below.
- He does go after Quval when he knows Naria was kidnapped by him, but it's not out of true care for her, but because she is still a valuable asset to him.
- He watches in amusement as Quval loses it and destroys and kills as many as possible in the hopes of amusing Ginis enough to be spared. This may have shown how cowardly and uncaring towards other life Quval is, but it's still because of him and he is just as much at fault for what he does afterward. (It is even shown in the next episode that he was indeed amused by Quval's unhinged attack on Earth and would declare him the winner despite still having died if Azald didn't step up his game.)
- When Azald regains his memories and true form and challenges him on who can make the most destruction as equals, Ginis scoffs at the idea of being equals and, while he does let him go forward with his plan of attack, he ultimately spites him by having 5 Continue Medals put into him, which transforms him into a mindless and feral beast.
- Tries one final plan to end the 100th Blood Games since he has no more Team Leaders left and he refuses to let the planet be spared because of a tie. He uses his space ship to transfer his cells into Earth's Core and slowly destroy it from the inside out. Even the ship's destruction doesn't faze him as he can just do it himself, since they are his cells.
- He even sadistically toys with the Zyuohgers in order to prolong their suffering.
- His secret is discovered by Yamato, causing him to lose his entire calm and composed facade he had up until that point and try to kill the Zyuohgers in rage, revealing the true monster he is.
- Even though Naria does know his secret, yet still loves and is loyal to him for the very end, Ginis brutally kills her for it, seeing compassion as the absolute worst insult. (even moreso than Bangray defying him and going out on his own, as hinted in an earlier episode) This only proves how beyond inexcusable his so called insecurity is.
- He grows himself and wants to kill the Zyuohgers even more, when the Earth decided to strip him of his newfound power.
- Before his death, he is more shocked at the possibility of him being beaten, showing he is arrogant and only hates losing when it happens to HIM.
