~ Controller X sending Gigan to kill Mothra. |
Gigan is the main antagonist of Godzilla vs. Gigan, the secondary antagonist in Godzilla vs. Megalon, and a major antagonist in Godzilla: Final Wars.
He was portrayed by the late Kenpachiro Satsuma in the Showa Era and Kazuhiro Yoshida in Godzilla: Final Wars.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
In General/Background[]
- He is extremely sadistic and brutal and in battle, and during battles, he enjoys inflicting prolonged suffering on his enemies through brutal torture, something that he always does against his opponents such as Jet Jaguar, Anguirus, Mothra, Zone Fighter, Godzilla, and even humans.
- Even if he doesn't talk, he is not without a personality. He is a psychopathic murderous madman with no morals and no regard for anyone, and he mimics laughing after committing a particularly heinous atrocity.
- He lives to mutilate, inflicting excruciating pain on anyone who crosses his path without an ounce of remorse or empathy.
- He attacks and tortures his opponents when they are on the ground, as he has always struck and stabbed them whenever they were floored. This is something he takes pleasure in.
- On many occasions, he is visibly seen laughing and taunting others in joy upon seeing them suffer, showing how sadistic and ruthless he is.
- 12,000 years ago, he invaded Earth and caused great destruction on an island before being stopped by Mothra.
- He is devoid of any ounce of compassion or sympathy and is malicious to the core with no redeeming qualities or regard for the sanctity of life.
- He attacked mankind in 1972 and killed off a good portion of humanity.
- While he seemed to be good friends with King Ghidorah and Megalon as he did genuinely seem to enjoy working with them and even gave both of them a high five, this is subverted when:
- Gigan tried leaving Ghidorah on his own twice without hesitation and attempted to leave him for dead, showing that he didn't truly care if Ghidorah was going to get killed, despite both of them ultimately flying away side-by-side together in the end.
- He wasted no time in flying away and letting Megalon get hit by Godzilla's atomic breath. And while he didn't actually ditch him there, he flew away and abandoned Megalon completely when they were losing to Godzilla and Jet Jaguar, showing that he has no qualms about leaving his allies for dead.
Godzilla vs. Gigan[]
- He burns a majority of Tokyo to the ground with Ghidorah.
- He sadistically mutilates Godzilla and Anguirus while laughing and taunting them.
- He stabs Anguirus when he is defenseless on the ground and punts him away after he is finished.
- He flies upward and makes Godzilla bleed in the shoulder by slicing it. He also repeatedly rams into Godzilla and doesn't give him a chance to get back up.
- He lures Godzilla to the Godzilla Tower, resulting in Godzilla getting badly tortured and bombarded with countless lasers, beams, and energy projection attacks.
- Forces Anguirus to watch Godzilla get tortured by the Godzilla Tower and prevents him from doing anything or saving Godzilla with his buzzsaw.
- When Anguirus attempts to intervene and rushes to save Godzilla, Gigan violently slashes his face with his buzzsaw and makes him bleed profusely.
- He knocks Anguirus aside after doing that and proceeds to brutalize him.
- He forces Anguirus to watch him beat Godzilla out of pure cruelty and tortures, stabs, and mutilates Godzilla in front of him. He is overjoyed when Godzilla appears to be dead and gives Ghidorah a brofist after they seemingly killed Godzilla.
- When Godzilla regains his strength, he has Ghidorah hold Anguirus hostage while he brawls with Godzilla and tries to kill him.
- He didn't care if the M Space Hunter Nebula Aliens nearly died and callously disregarded them while relentlessly pursuing his own goal of eliminating Godzilla.
- When they soon start losing to Godzilla and Anguirus, Gigan attempts to fly away and ditch Ghidorah twice.
- He displayed a blatant disregard for the possibility of causing harm through friendly fire.
Godzilla vs. Megalon[]
- He flies down to Earth to backup Megalon against Jet Jaguar and destroy human civilization.
- Flies at Jet Jaguar and knocks him down while greeting Megalon.
- Tortures Jet Jaguar with Megalon, including repeatedly punching him toward each other, kicking him around like a kickball, and stabbing him multiple times.
- After beating Jet Jaguar around like a ragdoll and leaving him floored, he celebrates and brofists Megalon.
- He holds Jet Jaguar down on the ground while Megalon launches a brutal assault on him.
- It's possible that they would've succeeded in killing Jet Jaguar with a few more attacks if Godzilla arrived too late.
- Tries to kill Godzilla with Megalon.
- After him and Megalon are seemingly defeated, he plays dead and slices Godzilla in the face, stunning and dazing him, which gives Megalon enough time to fire a Napalm Bullet at Godzilla. Thankfully, Jet Jaguar got back up and threw it away in Megalon's direction.
- He takes flight and makes Godzilla draw blood again by cutting him in the shoulder.
- He repeatedly flies at Godzilla with full force and continues to knock him back down to the ground after he tries getting up. When this failed he tries to decapitate Godzilla with his hooked arms.
- Bashes Godzilla to the ground, while letting Megalon drill into Jet Jaguar's foot from underground.
- He beats Jet Jaguar into the ground and, after seeing Godzilla approaching him, tries to hold Jet Jaguar hostage by having both of his hooked arms wrapped around his neck. He threatens to cut into Jet Jaguar's throat if Godzilla got any closer before getting blasted by his atomic breath.
- He laughs and taunts Godzilla and Jet Jaguar alongside Megalon when they are surrounded and trapped by Megalon's napalm fire.
- He may have given Megalon a brofist and seemed friendly at first, but this was all a ruse to get him to team up with him so he could kill Jet Jaguar more quickly. In the end, he simply regarded Megalon as a pawn and didn't actually care if him or his people perished.
- He abandons Megalon just to save his own skin and leaves him on his own to get beaten by Godzilla and Jet Jaguar, driving Megalon away.
Zone Fighter[]
- Contained in a Terror-Beast Missile, he ambushes Godzilla and wastes no time in trying to kill him.
- After faking his death to fool Godzilla, Gigan prevents Godzilla from saving Zone Fighter and throws him to the ground, then proceeds to stab and beat on him with his hooked arms.
- He restrains Zone Fighter and utilizes his upgraded hooked arms to detonate one of the charges against the hero's head.
- Before his death, he tries to kill Zone Fighter one last time before exploding.
Godzilla: Final Wars[]
- He destroyed the Earth Defense Force Headquarters and wreaked havoc on Tokyo as part of the Xiliens' scheme to dominate the world.
- When being re-awakened, he unleashes a brutal onslaught on the population of Hokkaido, mercilessly slaughtering everyone in his path and wiping out the population along with its inhabitants.
- In an attempt to prevent Godzilla from awakening, he follows the Gotengo to Antarctica and almost manages to destroy the ship using his laser eye and buzzsaw.
- He attacks Godzilla and tries to defeat him, ensnaring him in barbed wire and dragging him towards his buzzsaw to give him a violent and bloody death before ultimately meeting his own demise.
- While being modified, he pursues Mothra with the intention of murdering her and confronts her in combat.
- He uses his chainsaw hand to stab and drag Mothra, seemingly prevailing by severing a portion of her wing.
- He took sadistic pleasure in torturing Godzilla with Monster X and slashing him up with his chainsaw hands.
- He utilizes all that he has to try and kill Mothra, shooting discs from his chest in another attempt to eliminate her.
- When all of his attempts have failed, he uses his laser eye to attack Mothra, resulting in her catching fire before she manages to survive and retaliates by flying into Gigan in a flaming state, resulting in his demise.
