You can think yourself equal, you can pretend as much as you like. But today, tomorrow, one hundred or two hundred years from now, there's still be men who'll keep you in your rightful place... and they'll be such as me.
~ Reagan to Caleb before killing him.

George Reagan is the main antagonist in the 2007 comic book, Ghost Rider: Trail of Tears by Garth Ennis.

He is a former slave owner and the leader of an outlaw gang that raids many former slaves, natives, and their settlements upon having his rights as a slave owner abolished, proclaiming to take back his "stolen rights" and committing only the utmost vilest acts of evil onto whoever he and his gang target or come across all while holding onto his racist beliefs. However, upon being targeted by the Ghost Rider himself, he killed his own men and then himself in order to come back as evil spirits who now have the advantage to raid, kill, and violate anyone they come across out of spite of the spirit of vengeance.

He is the archenemy of Caleb/Ghost Rider.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Before the abolishment, he was originally a slave owner who owned a "couple-dozen" slaves and took delight in treating them as "subhuman". He then killed off most of his slaves due to no longer legally having the right to keep them, even going as far as to shoot a Union officer, which made him wanted by the authorities.
  • He led his gang into raiding multiple villages and settlements, most of which are populated with former slaves and natives, slaughtering the people, even raping the women for the sake of gaining his "rights" back (which is to force the slaves back into their "rightful place"). The attacks were so bad, at one point, a Native mother killed her two babies to have them spared from the hands of George and his men.
  • Killed Caleb's whole family, which he had his men gang-raped his wife, Esther, numerous times before slitting her throat and had his sons, Jacob and Joseph, nailed to a tree before ordering his men to shoot them due to being annoyed with their "squealing". While it happened, he forced him to watch before killing him, leaving them all for dead.
    • Because of him, Caleb came back as the Ghost Rider to hunt down George and his men to avenge his family and make him pay for his crimes. Basically, George is responsible for the comics' events, something Travis Parham called out in-universe.
  • Desperate to continue his actions "more than forever" and avoid death, he sacrifices what remained of his men all while purposefully ignoring Holly's pleading concerns about Boy's feverish condition, even when some are near death like Sergeant Billy and Banjo. Once Ghost Rider killed all of them, he ate one of the brothers' hearts as part of the ritual, making him a cannibal.
  • Shot his right-hand man, Nightshade, in the head to complete the ritual and commit suicide to spite Caleb/Ghost Rider.
  • Upon making a deal with those from the "other side" and returning as evil spirits, George's first instinct was to slaughter the townspeople of Pike's Reach and raped not only the women but children as well. The act was deemed disgustingly vile based on Travis' reaction where he vomited after stumbling upon the sight offscreen and it was later vividly told by a dying man who was killed under the mercy of Travis.
  • Planned to use Travis Parham as bait to lure the Ghost Rider, which he had his men take an entire town hostage along with the latter and his newfound lover, Jenny.
  • Ordered Sergeant Billy to spew ink onto a sheriff, dissolving him gruesomely to his demise.
  • Taunts Travis about how it was thanks to him and the Ghost Rider, they became evil spirits while trying to convince him to help out with capturing the latter, claiming he's disgusted with Ghost Rider's acts against his "past victims". The last part makes him look hypocritical considering his crimes against the freed slaves and natives he's raped and killed.
  • When Ghost Rider ignores the hostages, George proceeds to have them all gruesomely killed by his men, including the children, just to prove to the Ghost Rider that he wasn't bluffing.
  • As Nightshade killed Jenny and threatened Travis' life just to have Caleb surrender, he taunts him one last time before handcuffing him, intending to bring him to the "other side" to put Caleb in his "rightful place".
  • Left Nightshade to die at the hands of the dead just to save his own skin all while cowardly panicking in the presence of the Ghost Rider.
  • He has zero care for his men, already proven when he left one of them for dead and sacrificed them either way without any of their consent. His relationship with the Dragwells is unexplored and although he has the Coulter Brothers, Lemuel and Rufus, have their grandfather's house returned to them after killing Caleb and his family, this is more of their service to him being done than out of altruism. This is especially when considering how George treats his men, this is highly unlikely if George ever cared about them back.
